well in a situation like this, i would have hit him a little with the cannon, just enough to scratch the paint a bit (while in bomb mode), and then quickly switch to missiles and spam missles using the glitch. if you don't already know, you can fire missles without a lock as long as you are close to him, and they will seek. the target will not receive a warning lock tone, but solid lock tone. depending on how close you are behind him, he will have little or no time to release countermeasures. if you had hit him enough with the guns, 1 missle will leave his jet a flying wreck with him inside. it is best to implement this strategy while the target is rearming and unaware of your presence. he will fly in a straight line giving you a clear target.
the first time this happened to me, i was already a mildly experienced pilot, and thought it was hax for sure. then i tried it myself... it might as well be hax - it is that good of a strategy.
Not sure where you play (and I know you know what you're doing), but most experienced pilots will not repair in a straight line, they dive in and out getting everything they need in 1 pass. They also turn a lot, so its very hard to find them flying straight for more than 3 seconds. You can still do this, you just have to do it while they turn a little. Hitting them with MGs too much will alert them to your presence normally, so you gotta do it all at once, but toggling between missles/bombs. That way they think you're not able to get a steady lock. At the end of the day, you just gotta get them to flare and just spam as many missles as you can as close as you can and hope a few hit the hit box. Even if they survive, it will be easier for you or the essex to take them down.
Its all about getting them to flare and then getting back on their ass to shove some missles up it. If the essex has a brain, squad with them and work with them through VOIP. I do this all the time, and basically its a tag team effort-he gets them to flare and I finish them with missles. If they're not raping the carrier or going near it, you're on your own-don't double team with the other F35 unless one of you is going for repairs or ammo, because you will crash.
