BF2S Forums An Obama publicity stunt?

Obama didn't pray for an election victory, a lottery win to help pay for his campaign, or for his Republican rival Senator John McCain to be felled by lightning or a pecadillo. On the contrary; his prayer hints at the struggle within, how Obama is seeking divine guidance to surmount the obstacles that lie ahead of him in his lonely, awesome challenge to become the next president of the United States. On hotel stationary, he penned the following prayer, according to Maariv, which ran a photo of the note: "Lord, protect my family and me," Obama wrote. "Forgive me my sins and help me guard against pride and despair. Give me the wisdom to do what is right and just. And make me an instrument of your will."

By all means bash Obama. But if your going to do it, come up with something more substantial than a conspiracy for his private prayers to be published.

I can't hardly think of anything less serious than what Obama wrote on a single piece of paper he placed in a wall.

This isn't having a dig at you marine, when you criticise a political figure it's got a bit more substance than what lowing has provided. Cause if this is his latest attack, it's incredibly childish imo.

You know, like the decision to go to war with Iraq which saw you lose a lot of support from Europe? Obama is trying to bring the two former allies closer together. Not create further segregation.

Of course visiting the wall saw staged. A presidential candidate usually does arrange an itinerary. The cameras would be on him no matter where he goes. The presidential race is something that tends to be something followed by the media.

The article YOU posted said that it was taboo for the prayers to be read. The article YOU posted said that the Rabbi considered it an outrage that it was published. The article YOU posted also said that it is forbidden to read them or make use of them.

Do you think, therefore, that Obama could have also believed that what he wrote was private?

The only evidence you claim to have, pointing to this as some Democratic plot, is the message he wrote was, what, too nice?

The same goes for both sides.. thats all I'm saying. It's the same time of speculation about true intent we have heard over the years when righties talk about Bush. It's just a weak and usually inconclusive argument. There are plenty of real concerns when it comes to the candidates. When ATG was talking about his tax plan it made sense and seened like a legitimate grievance to me.

Obama's possible false public image and agenda is a legit concern to me.

Cause let's face it, when you do have bills to pay and a family to raise, it's a junior senator from Illinois prayers that are the big issues.

There are other ways of exposing character flaws. If you want to go after his wishy washy pandering there are plenty of solid, concrete arguments to be made.

I'm not saying you don't have the right to share what concerns you.. of course you do. I was just suggesting that there are better ways of pinning someone down. Speculation is left open to interpretation. Each side will interpret it the way they want. Just something to consider.

Umm, I already address those issues as well. This publicity stunt caught my attention and I wanted to discuss it. Since it is now on page 2 after 5 minutes, apparently it has struck a nerve with some.
