It is obvious to me that you think there are times when you are not responsible for yourself or your actions. Interesting. I now know why you consider personal responsibility "bullshit". If I were you I would be pissed off at me as well.
Yes and this time was exactly like the last time. Oh wait, no it wasn't even close to the same thing.lowing wrote:

I'm not the one trying to fit a sqaure peg into a round hole, you are.
Not like the last time? you mean a CAT 5 hurricane was not headed for N.O. the last time??KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

Can you even grasp the concept of evacuating a major city? Not everyone has the money or assets to just "Leave". This group includes the poor and sick people that need medical attention. These people wont leave unless they have to and that requires government resources. Lets not even get into the education level of those in the heart of major cities who can't even conceive what a hurricane is let alone the danger.lowing wrote:

With Katrina Nagin didn't ordered the mandatory evac 18 hours before the storm. As someone who has experience evacuating before storms I can tell you that is not enough time for a city that big. Heres the real issue, people moved back to a city that shouldn't even exist after Katrina. Personally I hope this hurricane buries the place and finally wakes people up to the fact that you just don't live in some places.
You've never been in a disaster-prone area, have you?lowing wrote:

Good luck to everyone down there. Legal or otherwise.
Hmmm, can I grasp leaving a major city? yeah I think I can do that. Can you grasp that THEY CHOSE not to? Like I said, with a weeks notice, you can crawl out of city. for higher ground.topthrill05 wrote:

lol, evil? I am not evil GSQ. I am responsible, and I merely expect, even demand everyone else( who is not disabled or a child) to be as well. If you are not, then you and I have served a country where we are both able to CHOOSE not to tolerate it and even to speak out against it.God Save the Queen wrote:

I would also like to think that I served a nation that sought the responsibility of helping people that couldnt help themselves.
It wasn't a cat five. It was actually a cat 3 when it made landfall with a cat 4 stormsurge. The threat was downplayed for years. It's no wonder people became complacent. In a perfect world everyone would having lowings supreme foresight. Until then we are going to have to wait 3 years for him to tell us what should have happened.lowing wrote:

Big difference between will not and can not.
No not really, evacuations from hurricanes has pretty much been a standard practice for a long long time. they even post "evacuation route" signs all along the roadways for you to follow. It is also not a new occurance to have people that stayed behind get killed from the storm.Kmarion wrote:

They made a choice and they lived or died by it.
You know why we New Orleans is better prepared? Is because LA now has a republican governor instead of a democratic governor. It helps explains the difference between the two

Yea I know all about evacuation routes and the signs placed along the roads..lol. I pass about six of them on the way to work. I guess that is supposed to tell me the probability of getting hit by any and all storms. Something the meteorologist rarely do.lowing wrote:

I do like the fact that I don't have to pay any tolls when an order has been issued though.
