Why thank you very much.

It is obvious to me that you think there are times when you are not responsible for yourself or your actions. Interesting. I now know why you consider personal responsibility "bullshit". If I were you I would be pissed off at me as well.
No, sorry.  In reality (as opposed to your Thomas More-like paradise) sometimes there are situations when no matter what you do to help yourself things go wrong and you need assistance from outside forces.  You may not like it, but it is reality.
Hmmmmm I think with a weeks notice you could walk or crawl out of a city Ken. You know kinda like they are doing with THIS hurricane.

Yes and this time was exactly like the last time.  Oh wait, no it wasn't even close to the same thing.

Oh, I didn't know you needed govt. permission to get out of the way of CAT5 hurricane. Wow that democratic thumb presses down harder than I thought in N.O.
Can you even grasp the concept of evacuating a major city? Not everyone has the money or assets to just "Leave". This group includes the poor and sick people that need medical attention. These people wont leave unless they have to and that requires government resources. Lets not even get into  the education level of those in the heart of major cities who can't even conceive what a hurricane is let alone the danger.

Heres the real issue, people moved back to a city that shouldn't even exist after Katrina. Personally I hope this hurricane buries the place and finally wakes people up to the fact that you just don't live in some places.

i have.  but i also have lived in areas where tornadoes can come with literally minutes to react.  in all cases, they had days to move and prepare.

Hmmm, can I grasp leaving a major city? yeah I think I can do that. Can you grasp that THEY CHOSE not to? Like I said, with a weeks notice, you can crawl out of city. for higher ground.

lol, evil? I am not evil GSQ. I am responsible, and I merely expect, even demand everyone else( who is not disabled or a child) to be as well. If you are not, then you and I have served a country where we are both able to CHOOSE not to tolerate it and even to speak out against it.

It wasn't a cat five. It was actually a cat 3 when it made landfall with a cat 4 stormsurge. The threat was downplayed for years. It's no wonder people became complacent. No not really, evacuations from hurricanes has pretty much been a standard practice for a long long time. they even post "evacuation route" signs all along the roadways for you to follow. It is also not a new occurance to have people that stayed behind get killed from the storm.

They made a choice and they lived or died by it.

You know why we New Orleans is better prepared? Is because LA now has a republican governor instead of a democratic governor. It helps explains the difference between the two

Yea I know all about evacuation routes and the signs placed along the roads..lol. I pass about six of them on the way to work. I guess that is supposed to tell me the probability of getting hit by any and all storms. Something the meteorologist rarely do.
