I only give a shit because right now we have a Labour government that follows your stupid government everywhere they go and follow their stupid rhetoric too. And it matters because our election is in 2009 so we will have around half a year more of stupid US following before we can kick Labour out for a good amount of time and get some independence. So for that half a year or so, it matters who's in charge.
But you take it out on me, like I fuckin decide who is in charge. Or like them as much as you do for that matter.

once again, pls leave the thread euros.  doesnt concern you until someone is elected.  kthx.
You know that's not strictly true; don't you Americans just love bragging in all the other threads how it just has to concern us because you're the major world superpower, and whoever you elect has such great consequence on our everyday lives? You love the fact really that Europe has its big socialist nose in your electoral campaigns because all of our states know that the next corporation-owned asshole you vote in will have serious ramifications on our next 4-5 years also.
actually, I read that more from you euros as a justification to bash the United States.
We bash you because to a degree the superpower influence is altogether real and true, and your American electorate bases their decision on such a hugely important topic on bullshit like "Omg, Palin's daughter is pregnant!" or Obama visited Pakistan when he was 7 years old! or the new soap-opera, Obama hung around with a terrorist 20 years ago, this is an outrage!. A lot of the European intelligentsia and politically concerned are collectively /facepalming over this because, as already highlighted, this terrorist-link stuff is old news and doesn't matter at all.

Because more narrowminded and introspective discussion is exactly what the doctor ordered for America; after you've been stampeding around the world high on your politician's rhetoric fucking things up for the last century. Surely the last thing you need in your election process is for non-US countries and interests to get involved or have their say!

I think if America was isolated for 50 years they'd probably hype theirselves into the next Nazi Germany. Watching that GOP convention last night with all the ridiculous rhetoric and fear-mongering being done was just as depressing as it was hilarious. Plus let's not beat around the bush, only about 20% of your nation's electorate are valued voters- you know, the ones with worthy college degrees or the ones in positions of power or influence. The other 80% are just staggering blindly into another mistake of an election based on judgements about the VP's daughter or Obama's religious background. We have to have our say and poke some fun really- otherwise it's just a very dire picture for the rest of us as we spectate.

Well  if 80% of our registered voters don't count becuse they are "idiots", what does that say about Europeans with an opinion who can't even vote at all? I mean, you bash us for interfering outside our borders which is fair. However, here you are expecting you opinion to be atop a pedestal when you are across the ocean and don't find any pattern to the  theory about us in which you embrace. You think this is a big deal for you over there, and I can respect that. But it is also a big deal for us too and when I have some legitimate concerns about one of he candidates you jump up my ass with bullshit. I too, am entitled to my opinion ok?

Then why would you say it doesn't matter at all? Maybe some of us are sick of how we handle international diplomacy. Maybe some of us are sick of how we arm one country this decade, and have to fight them the next. Maybe some of us want a change and don't particularly like EITHER candidate, but find Obama to be another smooth talking corrupt piece of shit. Maybe some of us feel we should just let other nations destroy eachother and stay here at home and fix our border problems instead. Maybe not all of us republians are neocon's. Eh?

Fucking things up for the last century?  Pretty sure we were isolationists until WWI.  And how pray tell would things been better under Hitler?

I think the days of isolation are over.  Fear mongering?  Didn't watch it, but I have notice any time a Republican brings up terrorism nowadays, they are "fear mongering".    I find that depressing as it is hilarious.

Not so much that we don't respect your opinions cause we do ... the point is some of you go totally apeshit when we express concerns about your government and foreign policy while us Euros mostly let you express concerns the other way around without us loosing our temper and resort to name calling beyond what should be reasonable ... this thread is a perfect example (worst posts deleted of course)

Right, and this dreamteam administration sure does reflect the opinions of so many Americans. Maybe because you fail to realize that we don't like him either we form the opinion of Euros being so shallow minded for judging and labelizing common hardworking American citizens.

If we left it alone there would be nothing to debate or discuss in this Forum for 99.99% of all threads.

Conversely, if we started threads relevant only to the UK or Europe, all of you American's would probably jump on us in the same critical manner.

I mean just look at the (atrocious) content of this sub-Forum over the last week. There's been about 12 threads relating to the Palin-pregnancy scandal and only one half-decent thread that focussed on actual policy and statistics. And, laughably, that cross-examination topic was started by Iowing. All the rest of you intelligent and 'respected' D&ST old-school posters are getting your knickers in a twist over pregnancy and terrorist scandals, that have no direct bearing on political policy or the future of your nation.

Realistically this Forum has a huge US-citizen majority and so (unfortunately) us Europeans and Aussies have to chime in on the American-topic debates when we have any knowledge or information on the subject. I'm not sure how receptive you would be to the idea of a sub-Forum that exclusively talks about British politics all the time.
