I'm just saying it would be much easier to call it an RPG, considering it lacks the only important part of an MMO, the multiplayer
they should have just called it a MSO, it is a RTS and an RPG if you think about it
space stage...

and how is it a Massively Singleplayer Online game?
You just said it lacked multiplayer, whatever lacks multiplayer is a singleplayer game? Am I right?

You called Space Stage a massively singleplayer online game.

Which makes no sense.

it isn't.

That's why calling it a single player MMO when you mean RPG is so fucked up.

Haha well that makes Half Life 2: Episode 2 a singleplayer MMO then Massive amounts of people playing the single-player game simultaneously and all uploading information / statistics to an online server (i.e. Steam achievements). It is true that Spore's generated universe is 'Massive', and it is also true that it uses online-elements to download planets and other races... but there's nothing integrated about those two elements. The game is massive; the game has online parts; but it's not massively multiplayer. It's no more Multiplayer than the Sims community sites were that allowed you to download custom houses/furniture/clothing etc.

That feature was really overhyped and misunderstood because I think in the very early press-releases about the game (several years back), the design team did actually make it out as if the Space stage and the inter-planetary stages were going to be Multiplayer and shared. The whole 'Multiverse' concept they had going on explained this pretty well, except they bailed on the idea when it became too much of a burden and time-consumer during development .

why waste money on cool gameplay when you can hype your game instead.

Half life series is the pinnacle of over-hyped. They're okay, but not as good as people make out.

yeah, because everyone knows about it.

It's hardly overhyped. Nobody who isn't into pc gaming has ever heard of valve, much less HL.

Same with Maxis and Spore.

HL series are generic single player fpses. Spore is a unique innovative game and the first of its kind. It is a lot more fun to play and can be enjoyed by a lot more different people. (or however you want to rephrase that better)

When the fuck was I arguing somehow that Half Life was a great game, or was better than Spore, or was more innovative?

Read much?

You took a bit of a random tangent then :\

I was using HL2 as an example of a 'Massively Single Player Online Game', in the same regards that SPORE is anyway haha. I wasn't really talking about how Half Life was overhyped, or how good the game is. You got a little bit too hooked on the HL2 thing ._.
