What do you all think of my idea of an upgraded points system in future releases?
As it is you get +2 for each kill or +1 for an assist. This doesn't take into account the difficulty of the kill and the risk and effort involved. My idea's are:
Infantry kills infantry +2 per kill (No change).
Infantry kills APC/Tank +2 per kill, plus +2 for the destruction of the APC/Tank. (eg. you destroy a tank with a driver and gunner, you get +6).
AA kills Blackhawk/E-15 +2 per kill, plus +3 for destruction of Blackhawk or +4 for destruction of E-15.
Also I'd make 2 AT hits destroy armour and 1 AA hit to destroy Air Armour.
As it is now, someone can get +2 points for killing an engineer running back to base away from the main battle but the anti tank guy who's trying to destroy the tank thats wiping out your spawn may get 3 hits on the tank before the driver bails and the anti tank guy gets nothing. (and may have been killed twice while trying to take out the tank!
The anti tank guy was doing more for the team but got the least points.
The same goes for AA. If a guy shoots down a plane who's bombing your own armour so you cannot advance then he's done more for the team and deserves more points.
Maybe this points system along with more deadly AA & AT rockets will stop the mad rush for vehicles at the start of a round. It will also help teamplay because the assault class will look after the AT guy cos he's now usefull to the squad when armour arrives, while the AT guy needs the assualt to protect him from other infantry as his DAO-12 is only good at short range.
Maybe then squads will need 1 medic, 1 Anti-Tank, 1 Support (for supplies), and 3 assault rather than no-one caring wich squad they join and what contribution they'll make.
Also I think engineers should get more than +1 for a repair. If your armour is pushing back the enemy and an engineer keeps that armour from being blown to bits then he's doing more for the team than most others.
I'd suggest +1 repair point if the armour has more than 50% health, +2 repair points if the armours below 50% and +3 repair points if the armour's 'in the red zone'. These points are only awarded if the engineer's not in another armoured vehicle while repairing! (ie, he has to dismount and be exposed).
Another change I think should apply is, any pilot/driver who gets blown-up/shot down should get -2 for any passengers killed. This will stop bad pilots/drivers doing suicide runs with a bunch of unsuspecting teammates just hitching a ride!
Artillary:
A commander can only arty a zone that hase no friendlies within that zone. I'm fed up of being in a good firefight with the opposing team and my commander makes us all run for cover because he see's 6 enemy troops in the area. Artillary should be used to strike the next capture point BEFORE we attack it -clearing our way- NOT while we are on the verge of captuing it ourselves only for the commander to rack his own points and kills up.
The same applies to pilots on bomb runs. Why bomb an area with a mixture of enemy & friendly troops? Go dogfight & takeout lonely armour along roads, leave the firefights to infantry!
Just my humble observations
