After playing a little CS, one of the most memorable features to me was the post-round damage report.  At the end of each round you'd get a text overview of what happened: who you hit and/or killed, and who hit and/or killed you.  In CS they show every hit, who it was from, and how much damage it dealt.  If the shot(s) so happened to kill, the weapon used for the fatal shot would also show up.  So for BF2, if you got killed by a G3 headshot after getting 3 kills, the screen could look like:

Attackers (3)

player1/2 hits/40 damage
player2/1 hit/36 damage
player3/1 hit/80 damage/G3A3

Victims (3/25% acc.)

player4/5 hits/100 damage/92FS
player5/3 hits/96 damage/G36E
player6/100 damage/HMMWV
player7/1 hit/19 damage
player8/2 hits/60 damage

The screen wouldn't be blocking anything important.  It could be configured to disappear if you got revived, so as not to impede gameplay.  It would give you something to look over for those 15 precious seconds between getting pwned and respawning.  Since BF2 doesn't have an "aerial cam" or "free look" view even when you're dead, there's no real reason to have nothing but a blank screen (and maybe a nice view of an enemy soldier's gyrating ass, if you're getting teabagged).

It's one of the few touches of elegance and flair missing from BF2 at the moment.  I admit it's not a vital improvement, but it would be cool to know that, though you didn't even get a lousy kill damage assist, the guy you were shooting at still knows you hit him at least a couple times.

Hey, all I want is a Death Cam. Death Cam in CoD was great.

Sounds like a good idea.  Not a significant performance decline, and something to do.

I, personally have spent almost 40 minutes staring at the sky.

Deathcam in COD was cool but I preferred it off as it made it too easy to kill your killer, more satisfaction hunting them down. Snipers for example are already to easy to spot in my opinion lol

Speaking of the death cam, I remember it being in BF42.  The camera would zoom in to whoever killed you.  They probably left it out of BF2 for the same reasons mentioned above--it gives away positions, and it's not like you'd be able to see the guy running away from your body once you're dead in reality anyway.

Plus, what if you get whacked by arty?  What does the death cam show then?  The commander?  The specific cannon that launched the shell?

Yeah, okay, Death Cam isn't exactly fair in ongoing rounds. But I could never understand why Counter-Strike: Source didn't use the Death Cam. You weren't allowed to respawn, so a Death Cam wouldn't hurt anyone.

But how can you use the deathcam without having the spawn map pop up every 10 seconds?

I'm talking about a Death Cam like the one in Call of Duty. Not about spectate mode.

There is a "specate mode", press C, or whatever your camera button is. Kinda dumb though, the spawn screen pops up again soon, and you only have 15 seconds to wait.

As for the extra stats after you died, this would be nice but I'm sure it would segnificantly increase stress on the sever. It has to store information about where 64 people got shot, send this out if somebody dies. CS has nowhere near the numbers of BF. Then what about if you're in a plane, tank, apc, rib? What would it say for those? Rear left tire? Big explosion in your face? Left wing? What if you get revived, do the stats stay or get reset? What if i get healed two or three times in a life, I could have gotten shot well over 10 times! If your in a tank, you could get shot hundreds of times by a support gun.

There is just too many differences to make a direct port from CS to BF. More detailed stats would be nice, what gun killed you, what gun you killed with, not just the class, but I don't think the CS stats would work.

Instead of having the server to memorize the things, why not make the individual's computer memorize for the burden?
If the person is curious enough to know, btw I am the one who is curious enought to know, it wouldn't be a problem of extra work for my com to handle this task at hand.
Personally, it would be nice if the performance screen showed the HS (headshots) that you made to kill the person so that you learn how you are shooting. Unless you are using sniper rifle and you know you are hitting the head, it is not easy to distinguish whether you took the person down with hail of bullets or with efficient hit to the head.

Wow, good feedback from everyone so far.  True EvilJebus, I never thought about the extra network burden that might get incurred from sending that extra data, and God (or Jebus) knows I get enough problems with my connection as is.  Would be sort of cool if the data could (as StormEye suggests) be saved onto computers personally as an option.  That damage/hit location data gets transmitted anyway and I guess there might be some way to do it without taxing the server?

Anyways, ignore my stupidity and also thanks for pointing out the death cam feature...duh...lol.
