Right..

And yes, I do have a long term fix. My education and my career path.

Why not deal with it? Erm, perhaps because I was in the worst emotional state I've ever been in, and dealing with it right then and there would probably have sent me over the edge (and no, not suicidal...)? And by smoking weed and being able to calm down and chill out, I could take the problem directly on sooner?
You're situation wasn't so special, heart attacks happen every day. If you were a nervous wreck for those 20 minutes, I can't blame you in the least, but after those 20 minutes you should have been relieved. No need to be hung up on it.

Having your father almost die, and your pet pass on, is not something that is dealt with over your lifetime. What's your problem with this? Talk to someone now about it, I don't know why it's still troubling you. Yes, it was traumatizing. But yes, move on.

Some people have affection for things.
If you go out far away in space, sure, we're all just a little blue dot.
But there are 6.6 billions beings on that dot that have feeling for others.

I'm talking between you and I. You've had that happen to you? Somehow, I doubt it. Because otherwise, you'd realize why I did what I did.

Relieved? Sure, that he wasn't dead. Of course. But I was also told that he had to stay in the hospital for a week long to make sure his heart didn't stop. Not exactly a very easy moment for me.

I've MOVED ON. Jesus Christ man, I smoked WHEN THESE THINGS HAPPENED! I haven't done it since November 2007!

Poseidon I don't think he's talking down to you because you smoked weed, I think he's talking down to you because you think without weed you'd be unable to cope.

I think you coped fine and you're putting far too much stock into the effects of the weed. Also, because you smoked weed to get over tough times doesn't make you any more special or superior to people who just smoke weed socially "to be cool" or whatever.

I probably would have been able to. This was just a quicker and easier solution, and helped me get back on my feet quicker.

As I said, I wouldn't have like, killed myself if I hadn't...but I wouldn't have recovered from the whole shock of everything as quick.

Like I said, this thread needs a quick and rapid closure

Defiance, back offa poseidon. People deal with shit differently. It doesn't make him a better or worse person.

Well, I missed about a page of arguing with Poseidon, but I'll try to continue as I can.

Learning stress management techniques is simply a better solution for life than using some method to avoid dealing with problems. However, I do feel Poseidon exhibits the classic rationale of an addict (although he clearly is not and I do not wish to make that insinuation), that being:

When someone gets into a stressful situation and needs an external method to cope with it, they will begin to use it as a crutch whenever that person feels the same stress put on them. The result is that any time someone feels that they cannot handle what they pressure they are under, they resort to that outlet and become dependent upon it to function, simply due to the physiological desire the brain has whenever someone becomes addicted to anything and the brain wishes a respite from stress.

That might be the classic rationale of an addict, but I control my usage. Again, I haven't used it since last november, and probably won't need to use it ever again (I'm hoping).

Just as anyone else who controls their usage is fine to use it and will not become addicted. Many intelligent people use weed. Carl Sagan did, Bill Maher does (regardless of whether you believe in his political leanings), hell, even Drew Carey does.

I said that I'm not judging the person, just my opinion on the action.

I'm finished though, I've said more then I should have and I've got a new toy to play with anyways.

Fuck me, the self righteous brigade are out in force in this thread.

Give the man a break, he is being truthful and honest and exposing his week side. If all you lot can do is project how superior you are to him all over the thread in a poorly disguised attempt at debate, you should GTFO.

Mmmmkay. Rationalize however you please.

But don't go into a thread with a girl with a serious addiction problem and agree with potheads saying "it's no big deal".
Yeah smoking weed is a serious addiction problem, watch out you might overdose.
Your thread reading skills are remarkable. She clearly has an addictive, attention whore personality. Weed is just a side effect.
K so because she smokes weed, drinks, and likes attention she has a serious addiction problem? It really isn't that big of a deal, almost every one tries weed, alcohol, and cigs some point in high school. o and I was talking about weed because you were referring to potheads saying it was no big deal.

Dude shut up, how can you say his situation wasnt special?
His FATHER had a heart attack! But no big deal right?
He can deal with problems the way he wants to, and if you think smoking weed twice is somehow going to end up killing him, and completely ruin his life, your completely fucked.
