Do you use an uninterruptible power supply? Also, if you're worried about data, I'd recommend regular backups.

PSU failure can take out anything that's connected to it. Hard drive/motherboard failure is decently common according to my dad, who has been working with electronics longer than most of you have been alive.Zimmer wrote:

Not to say there still isn't a significant chance that your data is fine, but you may want to start preparing for the worst...
Obviously if it did take out your hard drives, it's only an electrical and not a mechanical failure. My dad actually bought another, identical hard drive off ebay, swapped the drive boards, and got all my data off one of the hard drives without too much trouble.
