I got it to load with command prompt. So should I run chkdsk now? Or something else?

Sounds easy enough, although I doubt it always go according to plan. So its probably wise to do some backing up of data.
If he has Professional on there, but I only have a XP Home cd, will it install Home or repair his Professional?
Also: On boot up under Detecting IDE Drives there is a message that reads:
"Note Secondary IDE channel no 80 connector cable installed"
