In fact, a friend of mine as an Impreza that hes just taken off the road until the summer...thats gona be awesome (again) in that thing. The pull on it is phenomenal, proper "push-back-in-your-seat" stuff.

Well, that depends. Driving different cars feels different, due to the layout. For instance, some pedals are close together, height of the seat, responsiveness of the gearstick, height of the car...etc.
Whenever I take a company car out, it always takes me about 20mins to get used to it because it is so much difference to drive. Its hard to explain unless you have done it. I once went to London in a Laguna, and for some reason, half of the time when I wanted to go from 1st-2nd, I managed to do 1st-4th...that was interesting when pulling away from the lights
Its all down to the feel, and an XLT is a much bigger car than you will be learning in
