I'm not going to lie, I was sincerely worried for a minute there. We all know sarcasm fails on the internet, you need to make these things fairly obvious.Uzique wrote:

Uzique's just bitter that he didn't crack the code first.Jenspm wrote:
Shit, I was looking forward to a wall of text from Uzique explaining to me how Dan Brown's litterature is utter crap compared to that of Dante, Shakespeare, etc.
But alas, he's logged off
Maybe Pochsy/MacBeth can deliver? We shall see.
Yes, any book. Preferably something that has a central focus around a main character though. We have to do three separate assignments for the book - one of which is writing a paper that's focused on explaining the main character's travels.baggs wrote:
Any book at all? Like, does it have to be fiction?
I could probably spend and hour or two a day reading, so figure that. Between my time bored after school waiting for the late bus after flight school and my time on the shitter, that easily racks up around 1-2 hours of reading time a day. And since when are standard junior classes Jew classes? Try harder Mok, try harder.Mekstizzle wrote:
Depends on how many hours a day you spend reading, the guy has school etc.. and all his Jew classes and all that, so he probably would have to space it out over two weeks

Nor do I, tbh. Buuut, it's what I'm forced to do.Uzique wrote:
Dan Brown is toilet literature at best, there is nothing of literal value in his work. Not saying he doesn't create entertaining shit-fiction for the masses, but considering the brief of this topic, i.e. a book that can actually be written about on some literal basis, all of Dan Brown's stuff is utter shit-cake.
I don't really understand why the scope is 1999 onwards, that's a fairly arbitrary date and doesn't mark any boundary in literary culture or movement.
i agree, read Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace, published in 1996, it's 3 years offUzique wrote:

I'm down with the entire fuck-you-Milton thing, it's a pretty audacious theme to go with but Pullman pulls it off (oh lol), and I'd probably actually enjoy it if I was into fantasy much at all. I prefer allegory and symbolism that's set more firmly in the realist school though, it's all too easy to conjure up some bullshit allusion in a fantasy book- that's practically the entire point of any fantastical novel.FatherTed wrote:

actually, uzi tell me what you think of pullman, i'd be interested.

I'll be honest, you did scare me for a second there. I was about to ridicule you.Uzique wrote:

No. Not enough time, too many other books in the world, his writing style and themes don't interest me all that much. I nosed through his trilogy stemming from an interest in Milton, and didn't care enough for his material to bother investigating the rest of his published works. And don't worry ghetto, it was strictly for the lovers of bad taste. If it wasn't for the pesky caps lock filter my sarcasm and ridiculing tone would have been more upfront.FatherTed wrote:

Hmm. If you get the chance, have a go. quite different from the dark materials set.Uzique wrote:

I think there are enough mistakes in the grammar and punctuation to show that I was too stupid to take the easy route and copy and paste. I wrote a paper on it 3 months ago using Homer's Odyssey as my base text. I've told you this is what I do, I'm sure if I asked you about The Divine Comedy you would be able to lay some serious shit out fairly easily.Uzique wrote:
God Pochsy, try harder to impress than to just copy and paste modern theory articles
I doubt Poseidon is considering schools of theory from modern literature at his level of education.

Well then please explain the plagiarism of Dr.Kristi Siegel?Pochsy wrote:

I have no idea what level of education Poseidon is in, but it might not hurt to know about it. I'm sure the teacher will be impressed with the extra effort.
