I'm not going to lie, I was sincerely worried for a minute there. We all know sarcasm fails on the internet, you need to make these things fairly obvious.

Only things I don't like about his books are the guides to said books, lulz.

Other than that, nice entertainment.

I've never actually read any of his books or watched any of his shows or anything (that I can remember at least)

I heard Angels and Demons was some whacked out shit, but it was still a good read for the sake of, like Jen Spam said, entertainment

Shit, I was looking forward to a wall of text from Uzique explaining to me how Dan Brown's litterature is utter crap compared to that of Dante, Shakespeare, etc.

But alas, he's logged off

Maybe Pochsy/MacBeth can deliver? We shall see.

Any book at all? Like, does it have to be fiction?
Yes, any book. Preferably something that has a central focus around a main character though. We have to do three separate assignments for the book - one of which is writing a paper that's focused on explaining the main character's travels.

I'm really looking at Survivor as Macbeth posted atm and No Country For Old Men. It's not as bad as I thought, 320 pages for the hardcover.

I could probably spend and hour or two a day reading, so figure that. Between my time bored after school waiting for the late bus after flight school and my time on the shitter, that easily racks up around 1-2 hours of reading time a day. And since when are standard junior classes Jew classes? Try harder Mok, try harder.

Dan Brown is toilet literature at best, there is nothing of literal value in his work. Not saying he doesn't create entertaining shit-fiction for the masses, but considering the brief of this topic, i.e. a book that can actually be written about on some literal basis, all of Dan Brown's stuff is utter shit-cake.

I don't really understand why the scope is 1999 onwards, that's a fairly arbitrary date and doesn't mark any boundary in literary culture or movement.

Nor do I, tbh. Buuut, it's what I'm forced to do.

Survivor is looking like my best bet atm. Came out in '99 and it's short enough for me to read, do the 3 projects surrounding the book we've been given and fully understand the novel in the time period we've been allotted.

I'm down with the entire fuck-you-Milton thing, it's a pretty audacious theme to go with but Pullman pulls it off (oh lol), and I'd probably actually enjoy it if I was into fantasy much at all. I prefer allegory and symbolism that's set more firmly in the realist school though, it's all too easy to conjure up some bullshit allusion in a fantasy book- that's practically the entire point of any fantastical novel.

No. Not enough time, too many other books in the world, his writing style and themes don't interest me all that much. I nosed through his trilogy stemming from an interest in Milton, and didn't care enough for his material to bother investigating the rest of his published works. And don't worry ghetto, it was strictly for the lovers of bad taste. If it wasn't for the pesky caps lock filter my sarcasm and ridiculing tone would have been more upfront.

God Pochsy, try harder to impress than to just copy and paste modern theory articles

I doubt Poseidon is considering schools of theory from modern literature at his level of education.

I think there are enough mistakes in the grammar and punctuation to show that I was too stupid to take the easy route and copy and paste. I wrote a paper on it 3 months ago using Homer's Odyssey as my base text. I've told you this is what I do, I'm sure if I asked you about The Divine Comedy you would be able to lay some serious shit out fairly easily.

I have no idea what level of education Poseidon is in, but it might not hurt to know about it. I'm sure the teacher will be impressed with the extra effort.

EDIT- The list of theorists is the list given to me in one of my courses, I've just memorized them in order for tests and in-class essays. So yeah, not my words really, just a set given to me.

Well then please explain the plagiarism of Dr.Kristi Siegel?

http://www.kristisiegel.com/theory.htm#travel

Rearranging sentences and paraphrasing other academic opinion/source does not make the content 'yours'. Sure you've told me "what you do", but so far you have repeatedly made a very poor case of demonstrating it. If you know I can "lay some serious shit out" on The Divine Comedy (Dante is far from my main interest/speciality), then you should also know that I can remember online resources concerning literary theory and other english literature related academic sources. One of which you just copied and pasted.

My info was given to me in a hand-out from a TA here. Your right, that does look very suspicious, and at this point I can't say shit because I don't know where she's gotten the information from. I've just memorized what she gave us, and now I look like a back pedaling ass.
