My friend and I had been doing rather well over a few maps and then we got to sharqi. My mate was pilot and another squaddie was his gunner. The gunner wasn't too crash hot so I thought I'd jump in and give it a razz.

Some other fella kept on beating me to the chopper everytime it spawned however, which is fine and I'd normally be happy for him, except that he was shit. Beyond shit. He was a three year old and the TV weapon was his penis... he sprayed that fucking thing EVERYWHERE.

So, there we are on the helipad, me, my mate and the other fella. Two times previous to this even with E pressed I missed out.

That was when I knifed him in the head.

I felt terrible, honestly. Sure, we laughed ourselves spastic for a while (we are grown men after all and vehicle tk'ing is awful), but eventually I got through the guilt and went on to a monster 67 points, 25 kills and 9 deaths (that's good for me).

So there you are. I do feel wrong having done it. I'm never going to pop my punish cherry though unless the person did it intentionally (like tk'ing me for a vehicle).

Here's the point to the thread....

does the fact that we turned the tide of the battle and won it in that heli excuse me for what I did?

Yes. The ends justify the means, isn't that what they say? You could have just told him though. Sure, he wouldn't probably have listened, but you know, if you gave him a heads-up along the lines of, "I'll stab you if you touch my chopper again", maybe he would have listened .

Good point about letting him know. Unfortunately I had so little time and he had acted contrary to team interests many times previously.

I still feel so dirty....

....but so good!

I think he had fair enough warning that he sucked at being a gunner so he should have had others take the seat. People should practice using vehicles especially Helos or Jets in Single Player until they know what they are doing.

If they don't, M95...... I hate TKing but you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes......

My point of reply is that you have several excuses to TK that guy.
1. He knew he is not a competent gunner, if not he is seriously retarded and needs some diability helping.
2. He knew there were others waiting for the chopper.
3. He knew he has ridden in it more than twice in a row. Give it up after twice or thrice unless your team feels comfortable that you are doing your job.
4. He knew it was comming to him, it is only logical procedure after sucking too much.

Hmm.. I expected a deluge of abuse. This is no fun at all.

Here's a further point for the thread.....

name all legitimate reasons that you can tk for.

(and fuck me, where in single player is there a jet I can use? Buggered if I could find one, and I sorely need the practice)

There is a map called 'Operation Clean Sweap'. You can Fly bombers in that map.
However if you want to practice bombing with Fighter jet, not bombers (I'm talking about F-18 type jets), you should download a 64 player map patch and you'll get Jets in many of the maps besides city maps.

Have fun.

P.S. My reasoning for intentional TK for vehicle is already listed on my previous reply

Really the only one in single is on Clean sweep. The Bot will get it first and will die eventually just wait for it to respawn.

Their flying is predictable and u'll learn to stop them, especially when they lead you into the punish zone(bastards) but you'll have to contend with the Tunguska's as well.

the other night i was playing karkand with tthf and mikeshw and tthf was owning mec with his gay lav skills.

so me not wanting to let tthf get to comfy would go for the mec lav but our dumass commander kept beating me to it just so he could sit in it the loser, so anyway i was going right off at him and ended up killing him a few times on the way to it.

the thing is they didnt attack the factory once the whole round so he could have stood in the open, plus mikeshw was the usmc commander and we all no he isnt smart enough to arty the opposing commander.

so i think tk's like that are well justified.

It's hard to draw that line. I mean, sometimes the gunner is so bad he's actually doing more harm to your own team. I've been there, and I feel ya. Sometimes, it only takes 2 people in the chopper who know what they are doing to turn the game around.
BUT! the second we start letting tks slide for the sake of winning, allll the 13year olds(mental age) are going to start TKing for jets and choppers and use the same excuse. So NO, it's not permissible. We gotta set an example here.

That is an excellent point, however, for those of us with a more mature intelligence, I would expect us to use our discretion.

Speaking of tthf (wtf does that stand for), he was a squad leader on the last round I played. I got to be commander for the first time. 98 points later and I'm stoked! Not because of the points, I just loved looking after the squads, spotting as many hostiles as I could.. dropping supplies ahead in the path of a friendly armour column.. placing arty strikes half a click down the road of a hostile armour column and watching the bodies fly. Being commander feels good, and having proven so far to be of mediocre to almost good with a weapon, I felt far more useful as the CO.

EDIT: Oh, and maintaining regular contact with squads... too many maps lost to a non-verbal commander. Though none of my squads seemed to have comms.

Paper, Scissors.....

ROCK!
