well i see two options. invade somalia or cut off ALL aid to that shit hole.
well maybe another option. change insurance laws to allow ship to carry guns.

The crews have nothing to fight them off with...at least to prevent them from boarding. It's not like those huge ships can outrun or outmaneuver one of those little dinghies.Reciprocity wrote:
it seems odd to me that these huge ships are so vulnerable to a handful of skinnies approaching in speedboats. just getting aboad would would be awkward and leave them vulnerable unless there's a big open door on the side of the hull.
i know. that's why it seems so insane to me. the somalis literally scamper up the side of the ship with AKs slung across their backs. two guys with shotguns can't be there to meet them and blast their fucking skulls apart as their heads pop up? this is such a fucking hassle but these shipping companies and underwriters don't even take the most basic, common sense steps to fight it. you send a few somalis overboard with their heads blown apart and these fucking warlords will have a hell of a time recruiting.FEOS wrote:

and look what happened to the damn pirates that were foolish enough to do itIt is reportedly the first time in 200 years that a US-flagged vessel has been seized by pirates.

It was already addressed in an earlier post...docking rights and agreements prohibit arms on board.Reciprocity wrote:

As I said, kudos to the crew alll the same, but overpowering 4 pirates isn't as impressive as the story first sounded.Man With No Name wrote:

Also, I very much doubt they had RPGs, particularly such a small crew of pirates. AKs and grappling hooks I expect.
