Again, Lewis has topped the first practise, by 3 tenths. But its interesting that the Brawns are not up there in the front few cars, yet BMW and Williams are again!
Be interesting in qualifying tomorrow if the current pace of the teams is kept: are Brawn unravelling or are they just hustling us

I'm beginning to like this season.
Hopefully ferrari gets no points again while Rosberg can pull out a win with Kubica and Vettel taking out the minor placings.

Ah, from now until the Japan GP in October the races won't be at ridiculous times of the day. They should have just had the Japan GP in the same period as the other Asian races

Anyway yeah the circuit looks nice, but at the same time these modern circuits just don't seem to produce the same oh shi- thrill as the old circuits. Also I miss Takuma Sato that guy was nuts

So far it seems like Force India are the only team to make big changes/additions, they've jumped onto the dubious diffuser bandwagon

Yeah, that's the one place though where it's hard to do everything, and the last place you'd want to be blocked when doing your lap. Sutil and FI could've done more to prevent that situation

Anyway what's up with this damn crazy ass season, every race it's a different team in the spotlight, good to see McLaren slowly getting back up there and I'll bet you they'll be back to going for the top spot once the circus reaches Europe

The Toyota chief was saying they weren't even light on fuel (compared to the others), so it seemed like just a case of them flying through the circuit. Credit to them, at least Brawn aren't dominating like we thought (and feared, well I did, Branson pisses me off) - this race is brewing up to be a good one

The TV cameras are placed in crap positions for the second sector though, that's the complicated bit of the track but for some reason the cameras seem to not be able to show the whole thing

Why are Brawn not happy with their current pace? Button was a bit off, saying that the car was off the pace of the Toyotas. Last week he said the same thing about the Red Bulls. Is he really expecting the car to finish 1-2 every single bloody race? I think them two wins at the start of the season has gone to his head, doesn't he realise that every race each team is developing their cars?

gg Hamilton, 5th place

Congrats for Toyota but Im gutted for Webber, really did not deserve that and in that situation, the FIA really need to react a LOT quicker and sort it out (like Coulthard the other year). Had he completed his flying lap, I dont think anybody could say that he wouldnt have made it into Q2.

Hamilton, and Heikki, are definitly picking up the pace, which is good to see - as are Ferrari (damn it), but Ferrari just couldn't make anything of Q3. They are slowly getting there, but by that time, I dont think either team will be in a position to challenge for either the Drivers or the Constructors trophies.

As for Brawn, I kind of agree with kp here (despite dissing my tables from ur friend snake) - I think they hype has got to them, and the way those first 2 races went really favoured them. Lets not forget that Kubica could have ruined the party in Melbourne as could have the Red Bulls in Malaysia had the Monsoon season not kicked in. Mind you, they were solid in qualifying when those issues didn't arise. Perhaps they aren't modifying their car as much as the others?

But DAMN at Bernies collection of F1 cars...those 1938 cars looked immaculate, and I have to say, the Abu Dhabi circuit looks like it is going to be a true wonder in terms of aesthetics and (building) design.

Raikkonen ran out of new soft tyres for Q3, which is why he performed poorly.

Btw, Pre-race weights have been released. Aern't the cars without fuel all something like 600kg? I'm not entirely sure, but here they are:

1. Jarno Trulli, Toyota, 648.5 kg
2. Timo Glock, Toyota, 643
3. Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull, 659
4. Jenson Button, Brawn GP, 652.5
5. Lewis Hamilton, McLaren, 652.5
6. Rubens Barrichello, Brawn GP, 649
7. Fernando Alonso, Renault, 650.5
8. Felipe Massa, Ferrari, 664.5
9. Nico Rosberg, Williams, 670.5
10. Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari, 671.5
11. Heikki Kovalainen, McLaren, 678.5
12. Kazuki Nakajima, Williams, 680.9
13. Robert Kubica, BMW Sauber, 698.6
14. Nick Heidfeld, BMW Sauber, 696.3
15. Nelson Piquet, Renault, 677.6
16. Sebastien Buemi, Toro Rosso, 678.5
17. Giancarlo Fisichella, Force India, 652
18. Mark Webber, Red Bull, 656
19. Adrian Sutil, Force India, 679
20. Sebastien Bourdais, Toro Rosso, 667.5
Interesting. Hamilton was running more fuel than the Brawn of Barrichello.. is the McLaren's pace finally starting to show? It looks to be a great race too - if Lewis can get past Button on the first corner or first lap with his KERS then I'm sure he can hold Button off seeing as both of them could be going into the pits at the same time

And yes, Sutil has been demoted three places for blocking Mark Webber on a hot lap, pushing him back from 16th to 19th, with Webber going up one place to 18th.

No, but they have a maximum weight limit imposed on them. Remember KERS adds quite a few KGs to a car. 10kgs of fuel = extra 3.5 tenths of a second per lap.

That was my very first thought when looking at the weights. Im not sure, but perhaps Barrichello made a mistake on his fast-lap which made that difference, but then again, Hammy isnt exactly far off of Button...all of a tenth. Be good tomorrow...hope I dont miss the start whilst Im getting my car sorted out

Even with Sutil getting demoted down the pack, thats of very very little consolation to Webber who's whole weekend has basically been ruined. He needs one good strat, luck and a lot of good racing to get up into the points, which is exactly where he should be this year.

The more interesting one from those figures is Vettel who's running heavier than up until Massa

Good race.  Well done Button.

Go Brawn!

Vettel is something else, isnt he?  He'll go far, no doubt.

What this race has shown is the importance of strategy, I don't think the Brawn is particularly faster than the Red Bulls or the Toyotas, but it's just that they managed to nail the strategy and it all went perfect for them. That and the Toyotas and Red Bulls kept getting stuck in traffic whilst the Brawns always had some clean air, but again that's down to the strategies imo.

Good race by Button

Ferrari get some points finally haha, everyone keeps saying the Spanish GP will be the turning point, we'll have to wait and see. Big improvements happening in the next two weeks for everyone

Aye, Spain could change the whole look of the season again.  But as Button just eluded to in post-race, BGP will be comming with new bits as well, for the car is "dated" (lol, already).
The European portion of this season will be a knife fight I think.

Meh, Button and Barrichello haven't yet really shown any fighting spirit. They have good people behind them in the pits that make sure they always never really have to fight with anyone for position, maybe only right at the start of the race but so far I haven't really seen Button have to fight it out against someone over a period of laps. I think they've probably had it easy for the most part. Especially Button

Also in terms of speaking with other drivers, I think when Trulli and Vettel were fighting for position they didn't really show much either. Out of all the drivers, I'd say Alonso is the best at actually racing with maybe Hamilton coming in second in terms of being able to actually race against other cars and overtake/defend positions. Alonso is ahead of everyone else by miles in that category, though, IMO.

I think Button did one good overtake right at the start of the race

Good race, lot of action at the start with the 2 very large clusters of cars. I was really wanting all 20 cars to come in at the end...shame Nakajima had to ruin it

Considering how downbeat Button was yesterday about the race-pace of the Brawns this weekend, they sure fixed that overnight - or in the pits this morning, talking about cutting holes to help cool it down. They made such a big issue out of it pre-race, yet no car overheated...

This race has proved the pace of the front-runners, first time in the dry, and that McLaren are really closing them down and it seems as if Ferrari are getting their act together to. Unless something dramatic changes, I cant see how Brawn wont win the constructors this year and perhaps even Button to win the drivers championship. Its certainly shaping up that way.

As for BMW...LOL. I noticed that the commentators didnt say anything about them until about 10 laps to go...I bet they were paid off to do that
