You know, it would have been pretty amazing to be a part of D-Day. Truly fucking pant-shittingly terrifying, but amazing none the less. Especially to be part of the beach invasion force. Scary shit. Or the Airborne/Commandoes that dropped in the night before.

One of the things I would have liked to have been able to see in person is the armada as it crossed the channel. Holy shit... So. Many. Boats.

Around 6000 if I'm correct!

I would have loved to be there, but what are the chances of survival? Unfortunantly it's not always skill, it's mostly luck. Like you have to hope the MG guy is going to aim at the landing craft next to you and not yours, or stuff like that.

But Normandy in terms of capturing was nothing compared to what the Marines and some Army units in the Pacific had to face.

I wonder if there's any soldiers that went through the whole war and all the landings and stuff. Chances are somewhat slim.
