Couple things here:
1) When playing BF2 on a wireless network (tried it on both my family's network and a friend's network, so it doesn't seem to be network specific), I get a ridiculously high ping and a 1- to 2-second flash of the "problem with your connection" dialog. I imagine this is PunkBuster screenshots or maybe just my network card being screwy. I know you can reduce the interval of taking PB screenshots, but that doesn't stop them altogether (if that is even the problem in the first place). Any tests I could run or ways to fix this?
2) (This problem has happened only on my family's wireless network) When playing BF2 on my Vista installation, as soon as I click the Multiplayer tab to search for a game, the entire computer hangs and I have to do a hard restart. This hasn't happened before, and the only things I changed between now and the last time it worked was changing my sound settings to 2.0 to 5.1 and connecting to a wireless network instead of using a wired connection. Don't know why that would crash the entire computer though.
3) I am unable to connect to the network when using one of those things that plugs into a power outlet and you connect an ethernet cable from that to the computer. The computer will not give a warning that a cable is unplugged; instead, the connection will just have some warning or something, like it can't get to the internet.
[Clearly, I can avoid the first two problems if I could fix the third.]
