So, building a rig for a friend. Wondering if this all looks OK. My major concerns are on the vid card (maybe a GTX 275?) the RAM (not sure on this one tbh) and CPU cooler.

Ballistix RAM is awesome. I've had mine for 2 years now with far too many volts going through it and no extra cooling, and despite being hotter than the sun it's still going strong. I've also got the GTX 260 GPU and it's fucking awesome. If the GTX 275 is better and not much more then get that, but I haven't run into anything the 260 has issues with.

However, I wouldn't get an AMD CPU.

This GTX 260 is cheaper with rebate and has free COD: WaW

This case may be better??? idk, looks like what I'm looking at getting in the near future.

Ballistix is shit, get G.Skill or OCZ. This stuff is good.

I recommend the ASUS M4A79 Deluxe motherboard. One of the best for OC'ing.

Also, you'll want to pick up three 120mm fans for that case. Two for the front, one for the side - it only comes with top/rear fans.

EDIT: @nickb64: you posted a graphics card as the link to the case. :p And the Antec 300 is actually pretty awesome considering its price. I've had one for 7 months now and I absolutely <3 it. Awesome cooling.

That but don't pay extra for factory OC. Get either stock GTX 260 C216 or GTX 275.

Also, don't get AS5 - get MX2 thermal grease.

Actually Crucial and their Ballistix series are one of the best RAM' available on the market.

Crucial makes just as good ram as OCZ in that price / performance range.

Few manufacturers like Corsair, OCZ, G.SKILL, A-DATA, Crucial, Mushkin + some others I just don't remember here stand out from rest.

I'd consider Corsair the best but most expensive brand too. Rest of them are better bang for buck.

If you dont mind spending 20 bucks more on a case, this one is awesome for a mid-tower. much better than the 300 imo. Would buy it myself if it had room for a triple rad on the roof.

While Ballistix is decent (if you don't get a defective set), saying it's one of the best available is not true. When they first came out they were considered a godsend, but now other manufacturers have caught up and the more reliable makers have surpassed them with speed and build quality.

Ballistix is really hit-or-miss. Some work fine, others have lots of problems. I've known people that have gone through set after set of Ballistix only to end up switching to a different brand which then worked fine.

I would switch the 940 out for a 945 or a 955 and DDR3 and a Gigabyte MA790XT-UD4P
