Okay, so I just got promoted to 2nd Lt. this week, and I decided it was time for me to earn my, uh, Basic Command Badge.  (Pause, to allow you to get the laughter out of your systems.)

Now then.  The BF2S Wiki says something to the effect of, Kills do not add to your score, but personal achievements do.  So I dropped artillery on the enemy, got some kills, my score didn't change.  So far so good.  I pull out the shotgun and get an infantry kill.  That doesn't give me points either, but it does list it as a kill.  Okay, that makes sense.  I pull out shock paddles and revive a teammate.  No points for that--hold on, isn't that a "personal achievement"?  Where are my points?  I also noticed no points for flag capture/neutralize/assists, either.  In fact it seemed like the only thing that actively gave me points were supply drops.

So I guess I'm asking, basically, how does the commander scoring work?  What gives you points, what doesn't? (Bonus question: do infantry kills, revives, repairs etc. still count in your stats?)

the answer to ur question is NOTHING!

your score as commander is simply an average of your teams score;

therefore you are better off letting ur soldiers get flags, kills etc etc cos they get more points and therefore you do too!

if ur team wins the round ur score gets doubled...

hope this helps...

The kills will still count and is credited to the kit you were playing at the time.

And if you sit in a mounted MG while commanding, your artillery kills will count as Ground Defense kills.

Holy crap!! What if I sit in a Stinger?  Will I get air defense kills?  (I think the answer to this is "yes" and I think I read it before but now that I'm actually playing Commander the answer will actually matter!)

if u sit in ground defense as commander - any artillery kills will count towards your particular kit - e.g. medic, AND will go towards ground defense kills - same goes for sitting in a stinger...

when you spot an enemy soldier / car / whatsoever and someone of your men kills it, you get a point. that's why some commanders dont stop spotting (regardless whether its harrying).

and your question regarding the AA: yes.

he is wrong  - do ur research....

what probably happened is the comm spotted a few enemies and our soldiers killed them there fore they get more points....therefore the commander will probably get apoint cos they got more points for shooting the enemy the commander originally spotted...

additionally when a soldier captures a flag it may seem the commander gets a point...again thats because the teams average goes up when someone gets 4 points for capturing a flag!

so as i said earlier the commanders score is purely the average of his teams...

really we should just be telling people that if the commander spots an enemy soldier, who is then killed, the commander will get extra points.

If we convince people that this is what happens, then maybe we would start to get a better average of good commanders out there?

Also tell them that the more enemy soldiers who are killing under the UAV which is over an enemy control point, whilst your own team mates are attacking under the UAV at the same time, while the enemy UAV is over the same point....more points

nah i am just confusing myself now

Start with this if you are a beginning commander:

0.  forget about your infantry kill-, revive-, repair -points when commander; its not your main job !
More important is:
DEFEND YOUR MAIN BASE at all cost.  Main base is where your armor spawns and commander assets UAV/Artillary is located, its an open door, but many   commanders  forget to defend it.

1.Type : "JOIN SQUADS PLEASE"  when everone has spawned at start of round; as said above, you get more points if you have more functioning /full squads. Lone-wolf- sniper squads can  get you points, but not many.

2. practise (in singleplayer with bots) untill you know ALL the pre-fab Commo-rose functions and command functions in the CApsLock COMMAND SCREEN. Use them.  Give directions sometimes: "move your men to this position".

3. spot enemies , especially for squads /players who are risking their butt to cap a flag ! Zoom-in , and zoom out (rightclick on map in command screen).

4. use the SEARCH button in this forum: there are some great posts about how to command to be found here.

Who died and made you god of BF2? True Commander score does depends on team performance, but you also get point for your team killing enemy after you spot them out. It might not show up on your score as a commander, but heal, repear and resuply does go to your global score.

Forgot to mention a very basic commander rule: never fly while commander (chopper, jet).
It gets you a mutiny-vote  on crowded 32 or 64 servers in no-time.
16-players servers you can take that risk if you must...

wtf? i am only offering correct advice / information to these newbies....
you do not get a point for a team member kiling an enemy after i spot them....as i said earlier....when that team member kills an enemy or two his score goes up and therefore the teams average goes up which will probably mean you as commander will get 1 or 2 points added to ur total...same goes for heals, revives, flag captures etc etc

my thoughts: a lot of people of these forums are just so adamant they are correct...welll sometimes i admit i am wrong - but most of the time when it comes to bf2 stuff i am correct....

i am correct in this instance so stop arguing with me and thank me for my correct information...

oh and i nearly forgot...if u revive for example, while commander it will show up as a revive in ur stats pages but u do not get ur 2 revive points in game as commander - same goes for flags, ammo, heal, revive, driver, repair, kills etc etc etc etc

I swear to god everyone but Bingobones in this thread are complete stubborn idiots.

I have Expert Command. While that doesnt mean anything (besides that I sat in ground defense for longer than i can imagine), I think I know what got me points and what didn't.

HERE'S WHAT GOT ME POINTS IN MY 91 HOURS AS COMMANDER:

nothing.

you DON'T get points for spotting things, you DON'T get points for doing things

you get the AVERAGE of your team's points as an army - CORRECT

Ever wonder why your commander isn't ever in first place? You can always find their commander as well if you look at the points, he's always in the middle somewhere with a score of _ with zero or one kill and maybe a death.
