For those who don't.. the gravitational boost the shuttle gets at launch is greatest the closer you are to the equator.. and since it launches east (with the rotation of the earth) NASA wants it to be over the (uninhabited) Atlantic ocean for safety, srb retrieval, etc..usmarine wrote:
