The actual program was dropped early on – either because it was a dumb idea, or it didn`t work, or maybe something better came along. Maybe an unbiased non retarded oversite committee...  The CIA does a lot of good ...and i'm sure they don't tell the politicians every detail

Sometimes, I just get the impression that the real power behind the throne in this country is with the CIA and the NSA.  They may not be able to call all the shots, but they can present intel in a manner that can pretty much get the decision made that they want.

If they do that then 80 other agencys would have ammo against them.

We don't have that many intelligence agencies.  Plus, the NSA is the one you rarely hear about but has the most power and connections.

NSA is mostly communications, intercepts, satalites, etc. CIA does the field work. Homeland Security, FBI, Secret Service, etc. They all compete for the same funding.
