And ruisleipa's right, i don't want the Olympics in Chicago, I don't want the traffic, I don't want the tax spending, and I don't think our murder a day average is deserving. Chicago has to fix it's own problems before it starts anything else, our sales taxes are the highest in the nation, and the property tax rates have cleared out entire neighborhoods. We have homeless under every bridge, and two shootings on the morning news is standard. Doesn't sound like an Olympic city to me, the IOC better hope none of the athletes wander outside of the loop.

we hosted the 2002 Games, and it was pure win. before and after they left town.
During, traffic was fucked. going bar-hopping was fucked. 24 hour nonstop coverage was fucked.
before, they did major improvements to freeways, built venues (we landed a hockey team thanks to the E Center), and raised worldwide awareness to an area that only saw the Sundance Film Festival before. and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir . . .
