If it's anything like Channel 7's coverage, it won't matter because all they do is show you 15 minute snippets of Australians winning for 2 weeks.FlemishHCmaniac wrote:
I want Madrid to win so the time difference won't be so huge for me like it was in Bejing.

Enfin, if we're voting outside of the box: Ekaterinburg
Could be St. Petersburg or Moscow as well, but then I won't be able to go there and stay with some friends. I'm sure though in general the Russians could make something nice out of it, especially if they'd have it sponsored by Gazprom
How about we just have an opening ceremony and not give a fuck about beating China in ceremonies, but beat in Medals. Wanna try cheating again China? Lets see if you can get away with 10 year olds competing in gymnastics this time.xBlackPantherx wrote:
I don't want America to do it because I know we will fail horribly at trying to match China's opening cermonies.

because that is what it is all about. not the athletes, games...no...music and goofy dressed dancers. forget the underage gymnasts and doped freaks...nope...dances baby.xBlackPantherx wrote:

Yeah, this country is going to lose alot of money for the Olympics. It's not even the worlds biggest sporting event, the FIFA World Cup is by far a much more massive (and even important) global sports event.ruisleipa wrote:
seems like the people who actually live in these cities NEVER want the fuckin olympics there. not surprised since it's an overhyped global business spectacular these days, although some events are quite cool, if you can dig past the mcdonalds and coca-cola advertising.
it was awesome when they were here. turned our city aroundS.Lythberg wrote:
Rio, they deserve it.
And ruisleipa's right, i don't want the Olympics in Chicago, I don't want the traffic, I don't want the tax spending, and I don't think our murder a day average is deserving. Chicago has to fix it's own problems before it starts anything else, our sales taxes are the highest in the nation, and the property tax rates have cleared out entire neighborhoods. We have homeless under every bridge, and two shootings on the morning news is standard. Doesn't sound like an Olympic city to me, the IOC better hope none of the athletes wander outside of the loop.
You realize hosting the olympics is a profit in the long run, right?S.Lythberg wrote:
