Loaded the Win7 install onto a 4GB memory stick.
(so it installs from the USB stick, rather than installing from slower optical media)
From power on, install of Win7 from USB stick, reboot, to Windows 7 desktop: less than 5 minutes.

Another tip:
If you want your Win7 x64 USB stick to be able to install
any version of Win7 x64, remove the file
ei.cfg from the
\sources directory.
You still need a valid serial number for the version you're installing - so it's not a crack.
It just cuts down on the number of different install media you need.
One USB stick - installs home, home premium, professional, or ultimate.
