and at $35 for an entire year, XBL is way worth it if you're into casual gaming with friends
That used to be one of my objections but really, it is not a lot of money.

If it is a lot of money, best not be into pc gaming
seriously. i'll never understand why people will bitch about XBL's price. it's usually whiny 15-16 year old trolls who don't have jobs anyways though

Society is going to shit. Idiot parents are letting their kids play these games and growing them to be annoying asshats without an ounce of respect, even for total strangers. Instead they just yell and curse out everyone for no reason at all and act like they're tough shit.

I guess the closest filter I'm gonna get is getting a PS3, but that's not even 100% guaranteed to work.

Yeah now-a-days thats the only real reason i havn't picked up a PS3. At first it's because it's library was sort of...dire compared to the xbox's, but now it's fairly matched. Except more people still have Xboxs, and in the rare case someone has a PS3 it's pretty much soley for pro evo, in which case we just sit on the one console.

edit, also repping for the 'i had a job when i was 13 and could afford £400 a month nevermind £40 a year' crowd

I play with both (PC and 360). It took my a while to adjust to the 360 controller. I also have a flight stick and throttle for the 360, which does not drastically improve your performance like it would in the PC-areana (joystick over KB/Mouse).

You may not find dedicated servers but you can look for someone hosting a game or host a game yourself.
I have hosted Star Wars Battle Front II; it's an old game but there are players still playing this game.
Depending on the game, some maps are small and allow a total of 16 players. I prefer the large chaotic 64 player maps(PC)...the more, the merrier i say. Most of the players I hear on the 360 are kids or stoners. Maybe it is the "cool thing" to talk like you are half-baked online, dont know, dont care but it can get amusing or annoying.

It's not anywhere near as accurate as a mouse. And whoever tells you otherwise has never gamed on a PC.

Can a 360 play split screen but on two different tv's
I don't believe so, but you can link two xbox's and two tv's together.

Convince me why i should get one or give reasons why i should not.
If you have a gaming PC already then I see no reason to buy a console. There's nothing it can do that PC's can't, and gaming is better on PC's.
i agree with all but the last bit.... i still like getting some games on the console, driving, fighting, and adventure style games and such

Pros of XBox 360
-Cheaper
-Quick, Casual gaming
-Usually more of your friends are on it
-Some exclusive titles
-No hackers
Cons
-Stupid kids on XBL
-Worse graphics
-No dedicated servers for most games
-Can't do other shit like internet etc
-No Pirating

In a nutshell, it's good fun if you're playing with friends, but for lone gaming with strangers, you'd enjoy the PC more.

Multiplayer, on the whole, is pretty terrible. It's ok for some games. Only a few though.

Jobsticks are very limiting. It always feels like my guy has tunnel vision. It feels very claustrophobic and uncomfortable. But it's fairly easy to shoot people with.

The only online console game I didn't get sick of within about 10 minutes was Battlefield: Bad Company. It has dedicated servers too.

Split screen is dependant on game. But yes its possible with some.

As for chipping your console. It leads to a banned-from-Live Xbox i'm afraid.

Other CON: You need to pay an annual fee of $50.00 to play online (xbox live), where as, a computer or PS3 it is free. I pray computer companies do not start doing the "pay to play" thing.

There's more games and less hassle getting an Xbox over a PC. Look at all the shit the PC users get, they're always bitching about XYZ.
All the games are ports which don't work or have stupid performance issues, most games are poorly optimised for the PC so you have to fork out a fuckload just to get acceptable framerates on the new games. Plus because of the rampant piracy they continuously use worse and more stupid copywrite protection and all that shit for the platform, they force you to use shit like Steam or Games for Windows.

Plus there's loads of hackers online.

On the plus side, it's so much easier to just pirate games for free. Instead of having to fork out 20-40 quid for a game all the time or renting them out. If you have a good PC and an RS account or like using Torrents you're pretty much set for alot of games if you don't want to go online.

I got my PS3 cos it's the least hassle and the most value for money out of all three. I still have a PC, but I just don't need a gaming PC as it isn't worth the hassle. Two very different things.

Answer a few of these please:

I own a 360, ps3, and PC. By far, I use my PC the most, then the ps3 (mostly to play blu-ray movies) , then the box.

How is multiplayer compared to PC

I have no idea. I have never once bothered to pay for XBL. Also, for some mysterious reason, I cannot even connect to XBL silver for like 3 months now. Seeing as how I play online on PC every day, I would say it sucks by comparison.

How is using a jobstick toggle button anywheres near as accurate as a mouse

It sucks compared to a mouse. Plain and simple.

Name some awesome games and hows the multiplayer for them

GTAIV, but you can get that on PC nowadays... I also liked ODST, but I only play the multiplayer split-screen for reasons mentioned above. It's pretty fun. Resident Evil 5 coop, also available on PC... but still pretty fun.

Can a 360 play split screen but on two different tv's

Not that I know of.

Convince me why i should get one or give reasons why i should not.

Get one if you really want to. Most of the best games are also available on PC, however, and if you already have a good PC, it's superior in every single way.
I'd say, if there are any 360 exclusive games that you MUST play, it's not a bad buy. But don't buy the 360 simply to have one.

This would be your primary reason to get a 360.  Party chat while ingame.  My son still keeps in touch with friends who have moved away since they are all still on XBox Live.  And bonded with friends from school who otherwise would have been in a different click.  No one really chats on PS3, period.

Depends - competitive doesnt really exist, however, for casual, it is great fun. I find I get a LOT less problems from kiddies who dont know how to play, hackusations, etc. (no keyboards!)
Lack of dedicated servers hits home hard in some matches if the host has a poor connection - although I rarely get this, some people make out that it is the norm

Mitch wrote:

Its nowhere near as accurate, however, for most things on console games, its not required to be as accurate. Sniping is either a love or hate. You get used to it.

Mitch wrote:

GEARS OF WAR. 1 & 2. Eats shitty Fail of Duty for breakfast on every available front.
Forza3 is also fantastic.

Mitch wrote:

Dont know - rarely play split-screen. Just play with friends via XBL.

Mitch wrote:

Pro's:
Games are designed for the console's hardware, not just the lower end of the market as with (most) PC games (take BF2, for example).
Gears of War.
Great for casual gaming.

Con's:
I find games last less time.
Strategy games are harder to play (i.e. CnC3/RA3, etc) from a lack of buttons.
Lack of dedicated servers.
Lack of a competitive scene.

Ok, I apologise, the PC genre has hundreds of thousands of different dark fantasy RPG's and RTS games and all of that. And games from 1981 which the Xbox 360 can't play. PC's can play games from the 50's whereas the 360 can't, you win, Miggle

When you talk about the latest games. A console is much less of a hassle than a PC. And a much bigger variety. I'm not here to argue with people who can't see things objectively and live by their stupid fanboy ideals, I lost most respect for this forum in terms of playing games when fucking all of you raged about games like MW2 and L4D2 yet still went and bought it anyway. You guys just chat shit but don't exactly follow up on anything
