Pull out the raptor, put the SSD in. Insert the 7 CD and install to the SSD. Then put the raptor back in and format it. Otherwise your system will want to dual boot.

boot files from the old drive could interfere with boot files newly created on the SSDsteelie34 wrote:
take out the old drive, put the ssd in your system, install win7, then hook up the old hard drive while the ssd is in there. you can copy everything from the old to the new ssd.
and no disk erase utility is 100% certain, but they do stop most people from recovering data. only surefire way is to destroy the disk, but then you wouldn't get very much money for it
edit: oops didnt realize you already got your answer
correct... yeah that shit gets annoying when i try to scan someone's hard drive in a different computer and try to boot it up..Sup wrote:

whilst i agree that it would be awfully hard to recover data with a multiple pass disk wiping program, you wouldn't believe the fucking microscope the navy has.Flaming_Maniac wrote:
To truly wipe a hard drive you want programs that will not just write over with 1s and 0s once, they do it over and over and over again. Even if it's written over once it is possible (for someone that has the time and the money/skill) to retrieve the data written over from the residual magnetic field. If you write garbage over it continually though, that gets awfully hard if not impossible.
If the drive is written over in passes, its nearly impossible to restore. I've heard tales of forensics where the open the drives up and so something magenetics, but honestly unless you committed a billion dollar crime, noone is going to do that..Sup wrote:
Are you positive stuff erased with that software can't be restored?King_County_Downy wrote:
He could use something like Cleanspace or some other disk wiping utility. Shouldn't take too long on a 74G drive..Sup wrote:
Don't/didn't you have personal data on it? Even if erased they can be restored.

The only way to guarantee your data can't be restored is to destroy the drive..Sup wrote:
