portability + battery life > laptop power if you have a desktop sitting at home. I mean really, you don't do anything that requires a srs bsns computer when you're out and about anyways.
reading the rest of the thread, don't get a 14" get a 10". I have been using a G15v1 for years and I had little problem with the transition. It is a little annoying when you first start typing but whenever I got into a serious session of typing it was fine. Certainly not bad enough to justify the price + bulk increase.
