portability + battery life > laptop power if you have a desktop sitting at home. I mean really, you don't do anything that requires a srs bsns computer when you're out and about anyways.

reading the rest of the thread, don't get a 14" get a 10". I have been using a G15v1 for years and I had little problem with the transition. It is a little annoying when you first start typing but whenever I got into a serious session of typing it was fine. Certainly not bad enough to justify the price + bulk increase.

Don't get a Raptor, it's basically a scam for price/performance/GB.

Try a Samsung 500GB F3.

The raptors are actually slower than the newest regular drives as soon as you put more than OS on it. 

Average drives have improved where as raptors have stayed same.
