I'm always curious how other places do it. We have it so good here in Arizona. We don't have to have a permit to buy, own or carry loaded (open or concealed). Concealed carry without a permit starts on July 29, 2010. No owner or firearm registration. No limit on how many firearms or how much ammunition we can have. No magazine capacity limits. Lockers or safes are not required, but its a good idea to have one anyway. Can buy, sell and trade with other citizens without completing government paperwork or paying fees (a.k.a. the gun show loophole ). The Governor is prohibited from confiscating lawfully held firearms and ammunition during a state of emergency. If we could just get around the tax and registration for full autos, short barrels and suppressors we'd have it about as good as it gets.
Don't think so, but could be. I have to go to the police station to get it and I have to have a 100% clean record.

no and yes, while it is possible to shoot normal pistols like a Sig Sauer over here, it costs a helluva lot of money and I believe you have to keep the gun locked in the gun club and have a very special permit. The normal "range pistol" over here is .22 competition pistols.

no, I believe you may only transport your rifle from home to hunt/range and to use a firearm for self-defence is not even something anyone considers here.

If you were to carry your gun in public without a gun-case, be that for transport purposes or whatever, I think you'd be reported and told off by the police pretty quick, people don't take kindly to firearms over here unless they are used as "tools"

Most gunshops I deal with, who don't actually sell firearms online, don't like dealing with people online.  They prefer face to face interaction.  At least that's my experience in the U.S.

I'm having a hard time believing .44mag and 45/70 are the only calibers available.  Owning a firearm in your country sounds like a very serious proposition.  You need to get all you ducks in a row with regulations and requirements before you even think about what you want to own.  Since you're a beginner,  I'd strongly suggest a .22 rifle, and not necessarily a lever action.  Are you interested in marksmanship or just blasting away?  Lever actions really aren't all that great anyways.  They're mostly utility rifles.  They're not especially accurate and your ammunition/projectile choices are limited.  A pump action 12 gauge will give you more bang for your buck.

The third rifle down is the only lever action I own,  and it's a .22.  It's fun, but the lever action "novelty" doesn't last very long. Mostly, my 7 year old nephew shoots it.

The rest of the ~$1500 is what I've estimated for ammo and misc. costs... I have no idea about the price of a permit, but I'd emagine its reasonable...
I'd do a bit of research, and actually try shooting before plumping for what seems like an odd choice in firearms.

I like the Ruger 10/22.   Best magazines in the business and more accessories than you can imagine.  The middle rifle in the picture I posted is a 10/22 with a 22" barrel in a Tapco T6 stock with AR style peep sights from a company called Tech Sights.  The sight plane is 26", it's very accurate for a utility/plinking rifle.

.22 rifles are just so "meh" you barely feel you fired it...

I don't know about marksmanship/blasting away.. I think I'm in between...

The lever action is something "different" which I kinda like, bolt-actions feel abit "meh" too except for extreme ranges which you can't get here without hunting...

Pump actions would be my next step, perhaps for some clay pidgeon (skeet) shooting, which I know is mainly done with double barrel shotguns...

And I think 12gauges where the barrel streches forward on its own looks stupid, so my only option there is to get a "tactical" version like this Remington 1100
https://www.butik-michaelsjagt.dk/Graphics/Products/1328.jpg
Which is more expensive than the above rifles (fibre optic sight included - whatever that is)

TBH You come across more as a gun nut than someone interested in shooting as a discipline or for sport.
If you just want to 'blast away' stick to video games, I doubt you'll be welcome on the average Danish range.

Floppy,

Find out if you can purchase an AR-15. I think it's a great all around gun. It'd be high on my list if I had to have a permit for each rifle and limited to how much I could own. If you have the option to change out the upper you have multiple guns in one. You can start with the 223/5.56 than get different uppers like 22LR, 9mm, 45acp, 6.8 spc., the list goes on. You could use it for cheap plinking, target shooting or hunting.

They're a little expensive, but overall you can have many rifles in one for a lot less money and hassle. I think its a good route to take if you can.

Have you checked out this forum?

I highly doubt that is legal here... And if it is "a little expensive" there, you can count on it beeing "insanely exspensive" here...

and nvm, I've given it up, ever since we got Cisco courses on my school I've realised I won't be getting any real pay soon...

yeah the 10/22 is at the top of the list of choices for sure... so many upgrades out there for them as well

Maybe so, however its people who just want their hands on a cannon which either looks awsm so they can stroke it with their friends or goes kabboom, or ideally both, and have no actual interest in firearm sports who give shooting a bad image.

Having run multiple shooting clubs I'm very comfortable with some people not joining the sport. They're easy to spot, they come in with the 'whats the biggest baddest gun I can buy and how soon can I get it' attitude.
Fortunately in the UK and Aus it takes time and diligence to even start, so usually they drift away once they realise they'll have to put some effort into the paperwork, learning to shoot and will have to demostrate an ongoing interest.

Which is why I suggested going to a range, trying multiple firearms and then deciding if and what he wants to get into rather than selecting the biggest available blaster over the internet and working backwards from there.

i know the types you mean all too well, and they can rightly GTFO before they hurt themselves or someone else

but a whooole lot of people get lumped into that category unfairly as well... myself included more than once.   that's actually the reason i have no handguns or other "restricted" firearms, so far every club i've gone to has been downright hostile to me joining

and i don't think flopps fits into it as he has said he has shot before but just wants more recoil than a .22 can provide

besides, it's our job as responsible gun owners to teach/show those types the error of their ways
