As I already stated in my GPU thread, my mother recently got a leftover PC from her work. Specs:
- Pentium 4 (non-Hyper Threading) 3.0Ghz
- 1Gb of RAM
- Onboard GPU, but available PCI-Express 1.0 16x slot
What kind of CPU is that exactly, what is it actually capable of? I reckon its a socket 468, which mean no sensible upgrading, but apart from that,.. Can I upgrade my RAM to 2Gb, will the CPU support more than 1Gb? What kind of RAM would that machine require, DDR2, single or dual channel? How much RAM and GPU power would be overkill with that CPU?
The thing is, I'm not living at home and my father and little brother don't really know how to look for this kind of info. Is there anyway to find out without me actually being there and opening the case?
