computer power issue? windows 7 to blame?

hello everyone I have a new build using these parts{ http://imgur.com/G7T3z.png }
VGA Brand : EVGA Model : 768-P3-1360-TR GeForce GTX 460
CPU Brand : Intel Model : Core i7-930 Speed : 2.8GHz
Operation System : Win 7 64-bit
Memory Brand : G.SKill Type : DDR3
Memory Size : 6GB (3 x 2GB) Speed : DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Power Supply : 650 W
Motherboard: GA-X58A-UD3R(rev. 2.0)

I built the PC and everything was working fine. I installed Windows 7(boot from CDROM) and the drivers included on the disc. Also it said it updated. Several restarts during the install and everything went fine as though it appeared as if it were finished. I forgot to change the boot order from CDROM to HDD. Instead of leaving the PC on(it had been idle already for 4 hours) and installing video drivers, etc., I turned off the PC since i would be gone for awhile. Upon return to continue installation of the video drivers, etc., The computer will not start. When I turn on the power via the power supply, A few of the LED's on the motherboard light up and then turn off. When I press the power button on the front panel, nothing happens. Please help get my computer back ..it needs cpr

Made sure all the connectors to the mobo are secured?

Check all the connections from the PSU?

That's not a software/win7 issue.

rechecking. funny, i have not physically moved the pc since before win 7 install

The LEDs that flash on for a sec(just #4,#5(of 7)of the row) are in the NorthBridge Phase LED. Yellow and Green Lights. Mobo manual sez "The number of lighted LEDs indicates the North Bridge loading. The higher the North Bridge loading, the more the number of lighted LEDs.
from mobo handbook ->
These LEDs indicate the overvoltage level of the CPU, memory, NorthBridge, and SouthBridge.
Off: Normal
L1: Level 1(Slight Green)
L2: Level 2(Moderate, Yellow)
L3: Level 3(High, Red)

I haven't the slightest kimmm.

Try plugging in your old PSU, see if it boots.

I had a similar problem, in my case it wouldn't do it's initial boot with all my ram installed, removed some so there was only 2 gig booted fine, switched it off put the rest of the ram back in and all was good.

550W should be enough, don't plug in your other HDDs if you want.

Ed: Did the power supply calculator, included 4 USB devices and threw in a ton of fans, your minimum recommended @ 100% load = 488w. So pretty much worst case, it just won't power. Don't keep it on for long if you're worried, but it should be fine.

ough that would mean i'd have to take apart the guts of this pc to 'test' the other one. then hook it all back up.. rawr!!

Preeeetty much.

It almost sounds like the 2-pin power connector is on backwards, but if you haven't touched it since, I'm kinda clueless. Double-check all your connections, some of those smaller ones aren't so secure.

yah it was the lil bitchy connectors as seen in this pic. PERHAPSone was in the wrong place or loose. Accidently knocked them out and replugged them in with mega force. we are back into windows.
