NYU would be a waste of your time (unless you're talking about the business school). Columbia would be better. Bentley and BC are in Massachusetts. Not exactly the New York area
i consider that entire vague area as a general north-east coast vibe of super historical unis

all that damn philosophy and art

colombia is great but all the master's subjects there are really really fucking hippy

something in the area of modernity/modernism

as artistic areas, as philosophical movements, as literary/visual/architectural/musical trends, etc.

basically literature from late-19th to mid-20th century and lots of philosophy and sociology and other disciplines involved

gives me a boner thinking about it

Yes they are. Columbia is uber uber liberal. Like to the point that they were proud they had a holocaust denier on staff.

Boston is about a six hour car ride away. I don't know if you consider that close.

I don't know what your plan is for grad school but my dream is to get into the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago for my MBA.

Two choices in my field. I can either go with a business degree and head into the corporate branch or I can go with a masters in my profession (electrical engineering) and move over to the R&D side. The corporate side has a lot more to offer monetarily.

UoC because most of the economics books that I devour come from their presses and I would love to learn from them.

good luck man

in the back of my mind there's always the sneaking suspicion that i'll end up either fulfilling my academic interests and getting a PhD part-time by 30, or will otherwise follow my dad's side of the family and wind up doing some sort of law conversion course or MBA as a part-time study with early corporate work. depends really on how much i can stay interested in intellectual ideas and how long i can stave off the get-money vibes
