i think it was an important thing for me personally to go through a phase where i fucked up literally everything and annihilated it all

sorta like catharsis. bit inconvenient for my studies and 'life' generally, but what is life anyway if you don't know yourself and your own limits?

The partying started dying down in my mid twenties. Instead of going to clubs, where the music was pumping all night, me and my friends wanted to go places where you could actually chill and hear the people you were talking to ..play darts.. etc.. It definitely took a more relaxed tone. I mean, we still have times when we are out all night, but it's usually places like the casino ..lol.

yeah kmar, i hear that... i'd just as happy nowadays sitting in with my gf with a bottle of wine and a meal for the night... but it's not really the normal social behaviour at uni, in our circles anyway, so i get on up and get on out. house-parties and shit really bore me now. same people, same music, same routine, same bleak 5am sobering/comedown and the same next day write-off. can basically predict every 'crazy' night out now before it happens. gives you a sucker feeling in your stomach/throat when you're back in that burnt out place as the sun comes up and you know that you've overdone it again... just like you knew you would!

i wish i was an interested in my work / being productive as i was in my first year. as i've grown older i've lost enthusiasm for shit like that, oddly enough. 'positive' things. now i just want to lie around all day with a chick and relax... slow down. a year ago i was writing furiously. now i can barely be assed to do an important assignment until a day before the deadline.

it's the slow heat-death of the universe from here on out

my group were called the beatniks by the rest of my literature department for 2 years... i was dean moriarty

for my 21st bday my best friend bought me a super rare collection of allen ginsberg's photography...

kerouac, ginsberg, burroughs, holmes... many more.

on the road was also one of my favourite pieces of prose when i was a teenager

Yea, it sounds like you are entering a transition. For me I just find it more enjoyable to go have dinner with friends and chat around a bottle of wine .. for hours. Maybe I'm just old, but the time just seems better spent that way.
