I'd heard Bonanza's were 'rich-men killers'13rin wrote:
Yea... Learning VFR only is dangerous and could lend me being stranded somewhere until the weather clears. Thought about that a bit. Flown in a Cherokee Comanche as a passenger some time ago and with pops flying in alaska, I understand the importance of instrument ratings.11 Bravo wrote:
promise me you will at least work on an instrument rating later on. too many people get killed because they get a private license and go flying around the country. thats why bonanzas are called doctor killers.13rin wrote:
Yea... I want to be able to rapidly travel the country avoiding roadways and airlines. I don't think I'd step up past the single engine fixed wing.

I mean, if that's how you want to live your life, being just a google search away from doing something but never doing it, be my guest. It's like saying 'why bother?' when offered the chance to travel and see the world, because it's no different from looking at a picture in a book, or reading a description.Jenspm wrote:
I don't know how to do any of those things. I don't know how to work a till or turn on the burger-frier at McDonald's either.Jay wrote:
Can you change a tire? Can you change your oil? Could you put up a piece of drywall? Dig a hole without becoming instantly tired? These are simplistic jobs that you undoubtedly look down upon but I bet you couldn't perform any of them. If your life path was one that led to riches then you could probably get away with just paying other people to do everything for you. But you're not.
For someone that rails against the specialization that college has become, with their one-dimensional engineers and science people, you sure as shit seem to have turned yourself into such a highly specialized college graduate that your career choices are rather small. Irony.
But, you know, I could always spend a couple of minutes on Google and find out. It's not that dificult.

No it's not - travelling is something I do for pleasure/enjoyment, changing oil isn't.Jay wrote:

Saves me the hassle of sitting around in a shop waiting for someone else to do it. My time is valuable. It also makes me self sufficient, rather than dependent on others.Jenspm wrote:

its one last little jab from the company11 Bravo wrote:
you know if one of you work in HR/payroll or know someone who does....
explain to me reimbursement checks are mailed to me and not direct deposited like a payroll check. i mean almost everywhere i have worked this has been the case. i meant its just around 70 bucks or so and im not going to open an account just to cash the fucking thing. ya so i have to pay 2 bucks to cash it no big deal but its just a minor hassle that to me seems easily avoidable. just add it to my paycheck.
