During the 8 months of co-op I think I only had one or two employee that actually responded in French to me when I initiated a conversation with them.
You know, you're completely right. The French have no desire to learn English, yet the English bend over backwards to accommodate the French. Double standard at its finest.
Even if I don't need to learn French to perform my duties, I've always wanted a second language. It will be made easier if I stay with my current GF, as she is fluent in French, allowing me practice with someone daily at my own pace.
