And I would have to say " No " they shouldn't. Atlease with car against car chase. Hey, doesn't most police forces now days have well equipped helos? Helos that can follow, always keeping the suspect in sight from a very far distances?
Police are here to protect and to server. How are they protecting us, when they " are in away " making a suspect go faster, with a possiblity of crashing into and harming, killing a innocent person/person's? The police throw down spike sticks, this only makes the matter worse. They don't stop the car right away. This only making a better chance the person is going to run into someone? Hell, I have seen on cops, the world scariest videos where people run on bare metal brake cylinders, still going 55-60+ MPH.
It's my feeling that many police officers love the car chase aspect of the job. And do it just for the rush.
I don't mind if they chase a fleeing suspect at whatever speeds they want , but when the first sight, chance of anyone that is innocent appears they should call the chase off. Letting the guy go until another day.
