The arguments you are all making would be a lot more relevant if the people you were preaching to weren't American. We have so much arable land, and food production has become so efficient, that we've had way more former farmland go out of use and revert to forest in the past sixty years than we've put into use. We aren't hurting the environment by eating meat, we're just taking advantage of the natural resource we were blessed with. We have shit for mineral resources but plenty of farmland and water access. The only problem going forward is the ethanol production that is heavily subsidized by our government and is coming into direct competition with food production. We can't grow enough food on this planet to even come close to meeting our energy needs and the entire process is a misguided use of resources for negative gain. Stupid.
i think you need to read a fucking book. the meat industry - especially in america - is responsible for huge amounts of pollution and industry concern. there are literally hundreds of studies on this point. there is even an 'industrial pollution handbook' for the industry that has a whole section on meat and poultry pollution.
also lol at the fucking naivety of thinking america is the only place with arable land, or a rich heritage/market for livestock. you fucking donk. not like the UK, australia, or loads of europe aren't famous for their meat and animal products. nope. only AMERICA is "blessed". jesus christ.
you're right that the problem is we're "preaching to americans". but not because you are exempt, or special. it's because you're clueless.
