When there are some foot soldiers approaching an enemy CP and they have a tank with them, how should the tank move in relation to the soldiers on foot? Imagine Wake with 64 players, attacking the airfield.

I did this yesterday with fewer players and tried not to get to far ahead of the teammates on foot because I felt the tank would be of no use to them (suppressing the other soldiers). Unfortunately the attack failed and someone said that it's suicide to move so slowly with the tank. He's got a point but it's also frustrating when the tank drives ahead and are destroyed before the teammates get there. It's never good to attack "dripwise" one at the time, allowing the enemy to concentrate their fire on one target at the time. Furthermore the tank is important equipment if an enemy tank shows up. You could actually argue that the infantry should go ahead and that they are somewhat responsible to protect the tank, by clearing out enemy ATs before they get any clear shots. Then if (or rather when) the enemy tank shows up they can hold back a little and let their tank take care of it. What do you think?

Together I would say.Snipers take out the other snipers and At and tank fight's with an enemy tank.
Always together so they don't concentrate their fire on one person/vehicle.

Tank rolls in fast, draws out troops or sends them running, snipers pick off runners, infantry gives chase and caps flag.

Infantry should move in in advance to clear out anti-tankers, then the tanks roll in.

If this was FH though, the tanks go in first because of their armor while the infantry moves in behind cover towards the flag.

If you are a good driver and there's not much AT, then go first and scare the enemy into hiding.  If wounded or outnumbered by AT guys/other tanks, then hang back and try to get a supply crate.  Moving forward would be suicide.

All depends on your current kit.  As said before, sniper can take out other snipers and static infantry, but if your anti-tank, obviously you have a duty to perform for your team, so go for the tank first and foremost.  Spec ops is kind of 50/50.

Usually the tank should go first as it poses the greatest threat.

Tank goes in first, providing covering fire and additional protection against enemy fire, whilst the snipers take out any AT in the distance and the infantry behind the tank protect it against Spec Ops runnin to it

Infantry goes first, because they can take out enemy Spec Ops so there's better change that tanks not gettin C4ed.

It always depends on the situation, but I think that tanks and soldiers should attack together. The tank gives additional cover to the soldiers and surpresses the enemy while soldiers swarm out and take out the enemies who try to hit the flank or while they are in cover because of the tank fire. In addition, snipers take care of ATs. They could probably move in before the rest in order to check the situation and secure positions...Unfortunately, that is far too tactical and teamplay-based for many BF2-players I've experienced and I think I know what I'm talking about...

Squad Leader driving Tank/APC, staying behind infantry.  Troops take flag, one or two infantry stay behind to cover the rear (preferably engineer to keep the armor alive), armor keeps distance to cover cap and to spot enemies coming in.

Infantry so they can clear out all of the AT and SpecOps then the take can give support to the infantry while capturing the flag.

Tanks should hang back on the outskirts of the base and provide support/keep the enemy contained within the base, and once it's relatively clear, infantry should head in.

Tanks go first, followed CLOSELY by infantry so the infantry can take out enemy AT and Spec Ops when they see them, the two threats to the tank

I'd recommend asking for a scan from commander first to assess the amount of enemy combatents in the area.  In most situations, I'd ask that snipers set up and provide cover for advancing infantry, while the tank lays back a bit and throws shell after shell into the center or typical hot areas.  Move the infantry to the edges as most of the enemy will dispurse from the middle to the outside flanks to avoid the tanks cover.  From there on out, the infantry can pretty much lay down enough fire to advance if they work as a team.

In short, infantry before tank, lol.

What does it matter if a Mi-28 comes over and wipes the tank and infantry in one go?

Good point. I'd love to see BF2 a tactical game, in which infantry carefully moves covering behind a tank. That'd be real cool, but it won't happen due to the arcade and predictable nature of Battlefield 2. I'm not saying it's good or bad, that's just the way it is.

Tanks should go first providing cover for the infantry and then the infantry caps the flags while the tank provides cover for the infantry like it was designed to

If possible, launch a co-ordinated attack.  Artillery goes in first.  Tank and infantry wait on the outskirts.  When the final shell has gone in, tank rushes to the flag and infantry follow.  Spec ops take out the assets while everyone else covers the flag and tank.

I think I should go in first because I do the most damage.

All should go at once. if the tank goes in first it gets pwned by the AT guys. When tank goes with infantry, the infantry can take out AT and the tank can supress enemy infantry.

Tank First Follwoed closely by a squad of engineer, tow medics and a support with the squad leader alone in the tank for safe spawns.
