TotalBF2 is full of newbies. If you are a true Battlefield veteran, join www.BattlefieldFrontlines.com -- It's been around since 2001-2002. Though the name has drastically changed, it's still the same members.
BFCentral / BF42 > FPSCentral > AmpedDX > BFCentral > BFFrontlines
It still has some of veterans around, as well as some developers of Eve of Destruction, Desert Combat, and Forgotten Hope. It's not bustling in members as it used to, or like TotalBF2, but it's still a great community.
Speaking of TotalBF2, Rico used to be one of the head members at BF42. You might also want to check out www.TheBattlefields.com; it's comprised of the original people from BF42, BFC, etc as well as some modders, after the merge of communities. It's not specifically focused on Battlefield 2, but it's still a great community.
There loads of them, and do you use any others? I just use this one at the moment as i know most in the community and it is friendly place also not too many N00bs.
Another idea i had was that Jam3z's idea of the community ladder using squads, maybe one day we could expand it to other forums get them fighting our lot.
