Wish me luck I'm in Tampa.

Needless to say we are making plans here in Florida. I am making plans to evacuate my PC if need be

Of course we Floridians know the drill.

Yea, I'm in Melbourne, so I should be safe.  This could be a decent sized hurricane..

Stupidly enough I booked flights to Cuba for the 21st of September. I was largely unaware that this would be hurricane season. D'oh!

It's been relatively quiet down here this season. The 21'st of September is still right in the midst of it though.  You might wan't to bring your own batteries/flashlights . It is over eastern Cuba right now. (Hopefully those high peaks will break it down)

Here are some pics from last year at my Parent's House on the FL keys (Islamorada).

The Egret pic show a high tide pre storm.

Their seawall.  To the left is their boat tide in the middle of the canal.
https://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y241/DBBrinson/Hur1.jpg

Here is the same view as the high tide (first pic).  A bit of a stormsurge.

This is shot looking down their street.

Ha.  Thanks.  That's the neighbors across the canal. He just sold it for 1.2 million.  My parent's house doesn't have that extra story, but they have done a lot of work and improvements and are eventually gonna add that extra story.  God I can't wait to retire.

You got that right.  My parents lucked out and bought their place 9 years ago for a "cheap" 250k.  That was before the housing boom.  The guy who invented those damn beenie babies had a place down the canal that sold for more than that other guys.

I would say 250k is cheap, you would barley get an apartment here in Norway for that much..!

Are you kidding me?  Good God.  I thought NY and Atlanta were expensive...  Is it one of those supply and demand things?

That was 9 years ago mate. There has been a huge change since then.. trust me you wont touch that now. "the housing boom"

We have astreet called Bayshore Blved here in Tampa. There is a house under 2 mil on it ...
It's usually a major road with traffic. People were riding jet ski's down it.

I believe you.  My pops basically told me that my brother and I would never be able to afford a place down there so when they go, they'd will it to us.  "Thanks for the vote of confidence Dad."

Ah.. Good ol' Bayshore Blvd...  I used to live at the end of Howard Ave (by the bay) in my Grandma's apt (after she passed while we got her stuff together).  I would sit on the sidewalk (you know the one I'm writing about) with a scotch and watch all of the beautiful women rollerblade/jog.  I loved Tampa area.  However, traffic sucked (I-4), Ulmerton road.. UGH.  For some odd reason it doesn't surprise me that people were jet skiing down the street....  I used to jet ski in that dirty bay around Davis Island.

Try buying a place in Dublin.... here's an example of what we have to put up with since our economic boom:

I was your UPS driver..lol I think I know exactly which apts you are talking about. The 1500 block of Howard. Across form the Bayshore Royal. (The big condo building)
My route was Swann south to Bayshore, Howard East to Magnolia.
And yes Bayshore is beautiful.

I live in marathon, FL keys. And i have today, tomarrow, and wednesday, and possibly thursday off of school because of this storm. Im only 16 but ive been through enough of these things to say that when it hits the US it will not be very strong, 70mph at most. Ive stayed in marathon through every hurricane in the last 4 years and the worst thing that happened to our house was that a our 12 foot sattelite dish fell over, which we put up again within a week. I'll be up at 2am tonite playing bf2 when it comes like i always do, the power never goes out, and its fun to listen to the noises the wind makes =/
