I really enjoy the game MUCH more when I'm in a squad that works as as a team, and on a team that has a good commander. Unfortunately, the personal scoring in the game really favors pure shooters over team players.
Right now you get two points for a kill, but just one point for a flag capture. Taking out an enemy arty, or fixing your side's UAV trailer also yields just one point, and they take a while.
Here are my suggestions on how to change the scoring to encourage teamwork:
1. Make a flag capture worth four points, and a flag defense worth three.
2. If you capture or defend the flag that your squad leader indicated, that gives a 50% bonus.
3. Fixing or destroying a command object is worth three points, again with a 50% bonus if the commander or squad leader ordered it.
4. Squad leaders get 1/5 of a point for every point a squad member scores. This makes up for the time they spend managing the squad.
5. Squad leaders get an additional 50% bonus for the points scored if the order came from the commander.
6. Commanders end up with a higher score too because the team average score goes up.
I'm sure the numbers I suggested need tuning, and you folks will likely have other suggestions to improve teamwork at both the squad and team level. Please post your ideas too.
