Which game series has the better storyline?  Which has the better gameplay?  Which has better graphics?  Which is the most fun?

As much as I love Halo, Half-life wins my vote too.

Half-Life, hands down. But it's really an unfair comparision. Half-Life is IMO the best game series, bar none.
Halo 1 and 2, are by themselves, pretty good games and I enjoyed them thoroughly. Half-Life is just so much BETTER. HL series versus BF series, HL wins. The only series, in my opninion, that comes even CLOSE to the Half-Life series is the Metal Gear Solid series. (Oh, and fallout, but those games are like, OLD.)

As has been said in the other topic, Halo on the console is weak, Halo on the Pc isn't anything great.

And half-life and all it's incarnations just beat anything , apart from the BF series (as a whole) in my eyes, many will dissagree on that one though.

The four people who voted Halo have no taste. Half-Life 1 was the Hands-Down Best Game Ever, and the sequal was the third best ever (2nd place is BF2 in all versions that are not 1.3). And the Halo games, they where okay, nothing extraordinary, not even top 50 but where still pretty fun.

Half-life blows away Halo in terms of art, design and story.

Halo blows away Half-Life's enemy AI and combat systems, that made the gameplay for the Halo series a big winner for me. It was fun to play on Legendary (especially coop).

HL2 is more about the maps, getting from point A to point B with mildly entertaining combat. Halo 1/2 were more focused on intense combat with a lot less focus on the maps.

HL2 MP was awesome but it only came with 2 fucking maps. If Valve worked on it more it would have been great. I guess i have CS to blame for that, they seem to put all there focus on it.

I've never played Halo 1 or 2 online so i can't say. The coop was fantastic though.

Overall, i'd have to go with HL even though i'd be more likely to blow the dust off the Xbox and fire up some old fashioned Halo combat.

Half-Life 1 being the all time favorite, nothing has beat that game

I've only played the Half-Life 2 Demo, but from what I can see, big win there.

Halo. Only because I haven't played Half-Life or Half-Life 2. I have only played Half-Life 2: Deathmatch which isn't very fun. If I had played HL2 then I would have voted for that.

The problem with Halo 1 and 2 is the repetetive and boring level designs. HL had atmosfere, Halo.. not so much.
Interesting fact: the enemy AI was WORSE in HL2 than it was in HL1. HL1's AI is insane, the marines are very smart, work together, take cover, throw grenades, but the assasins are RUTHLESS. They use hit and run tactics to hit the player unseen, they retreat, use obstacles, attack from above and below, and HIDE from the player, something which I've never seen in any other game. Only F.E.A.R. boasts enemy AI that is argueably better than HL's. Halo's AI just dodges about for a bit.

This poll is a joke whats the point, i mean its not as if its even a contest, i mean come on Half-Life shouldnt even be compaired to HALO, it shouldnt be in the same sentence, Half-life is like 5 leagues above HALO. Plus Half-life has easly the best story line of any game ever i have played, matched with brilliant graphics, amazing physics and the final nail in the coffin of HALO is the Gravity Gun, Which is like the coolest gun ever.

Plus you get Counter strike free with Half Life...

It doesn't just put more enemies or harder enemies in the levels. The enemies get smarter, and have better tactics to defeat you... A lot.

I played it on legendary mode on xbox. I have to admit I only just made it past level one. But it's so insanely hard not because of the enemy AI, but because of the insane amounts of damage they do and the amount of damage they can take, versus the amount of damage you (the player) can take. The balance is just messed up, that's all.

I've beaten all of halo on legendary, on xbox and pc.  It's quite easy actually, though on Co-op, hunters rather than jackels gets to you.

This poll isn't going to show the true results of what the populace thinks.

You are posting a question that obviously people with a PC, who are avid PC fans (playing BF2) will respond to. Most likely the bulk have played Half-Life considering they have a PC powerful enough to run BF2, and alot of xbox afficionados won't bother be on these forums.

But my opinion is as follows.

Halo's repertoire is greater than which is testament to it's storyline.
Let's look at a list for Halo.

3 Novels with upcoming 4th.

The Fall of Reach
The Flood
First Strike
Ghosts of Onyx (upcoming)

2 highly acclaimed games, one official game of the year. Upcoming third
Halo
Halo 2
Halo 3

Highly anticipated movie in 2008 Produced by Peter Jackson, overseen by Bungie and Microsoft, Neill Blomkamp directing

Half-Life on the other hand has many more games (2 installments and 6 expansions with upcoming 3rd installment), all critically acclaimed with the first being game of the year. However, the storyline, being as interesting as it is, has not had any success or even plans outside the video-game medium. To me this is a sign of weakness.

This is not a biased opinion either. I have both the Halo and Half-Life series.
