the forced widescreen works fine in bf2, however, the HUD will be distorted. keep in mind that this goes for jets/helos/tank HUDs as well, so if your used to playing bf2 in not-widescreen, be prepared to spend a week or so getting back into the flow...its very different.
LG is a good brand, but i would check it out at a store first...also, if you have a Costco near where you live (i remember going to one when i was in Australia a while back...), see if they carry something similar. i say this mainly because you can return anything there, no matter what, for a year...most awesome dp policy ever.
the contrast ratio is good, but its hard to tell the difference on anything above 750:1 (correct me if im wrong), but 2000:1 is probably just a "look, our contrast ratio is better, even if the monitor costs $100 more, so BUY OURS NOW!!!" thing.
and bout dell monitors, they are arguably the best. ever. hands down. i just set up a lab of 30 dells with 19" LCDs, and they are beast. absolutely beast. hands down. visually appealing, and the resolution/w/e is absolute the best. however, they are expensive, and you can only get them thrugh dell and a few online retailers, but not many. this is why they are not as well known.
dell also just released a stripped down version of their awesome 20.1 widescreen. i will find the link in a sec. has all the performance of the higher end with out all the extra connections and features.
here it is i love my view sonic. it priced great with really good performance, but i wish they would have had this when i bought mine. the higher end version is supposedly the best 20.1 out there and i can only imagine this will be just as good.
also make sure you graphics card can support this type of resolution. the only reason i upgraded monitors was for sli.
