Hey there!

I thought it would be nice if we could have a little discussion about whisky in general and single malts in particular.

I'm a huge Islay fan myself and favor the peatier bottlings.

(Ardbeg, Laphroaig, Lagavulin and so on)

I recently bought an 18 year old Talisker that was a nice addition to my collection.

(Small but constantly growing)

https://www.whiskyguiden.se/Bilder/twe/talisker18.jpg

Robust and with good smokey notes but yet surprisingly fruity.

Much more mellow than its 10 year old sibbling.

Next on my shopping list will be a Laphroaig Quarter Cask and a 15 year old Bowmore Mariner.

If all goes well, next summer I will work at the whisky academy at Bruichladdich.

A friend of mine visited Islay last year and he's got quite an impressive collection so every chance I get I visit his house for a little tasting session!

My tip of the day will be the Bruichladdich - Infinity Second Edition.

Anymoo, chat away!

Discovered this stuff last year

https://www.whisky-online.com/acatalog/irish-conn-bot-1425sm.jpg (Connemara Cask Strength)

Unusual stuff, quite smokey, and even at cask strength it's very smooth.  Anyone who likes their whiskey should give it a go.

Easier to find, and thus something I drink more regularly while out is https://www.celticwhiskeyshop.com/images/PRODUCTRECORD_300.jpg  (Jameson 18 year old)

(Note, searching Google images for "Jameson 18" will involve some pics of a certain Ms. Jemma Jameson appearing, so be careful out there, kids!)

I've gotten kinda snobby in my whiskey/whisky drinking, and it'll almost always be the aged option, or the reserve.  Yes, it's more expensive, but damn it it's worth it.  It tastes better, and good whiskey is a hang-over free indulgence.

Whisky FTW!

Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Bowmore and Talisker can be found from my house too.
I also like some irish whiskys, like Bushmills 16 yrs and Jameson 12 yrs, tho they dont have any smokey taste in them.
That Jameson 18 sounds good, but haven't been able to find it here

http://www.scotchwhisky.com/ is a site worth checking, if any of you have any other links, pls share.

If only my wife could unterstand my enthusiasm to whisky

Although you found Chivas Regal on singlemaltsdirect.com, it's a blend.

I dont like Malt's really, they all seem to burn.  I do however love Jacks n Jamesons.

That's why you need to always go for the premium stuff.  Really quality, expensive whiskey doesn't burn, it's smooth as silk.  Mmm.

And what the hell is with bringing up cognac and bourbon in a thread dedicated to single malt whiskey?  "Fail" doesn't even begin to describe it...

nice timing since i've been thinking of trying some, rather disappointed in the one-dimensional (____ FTW!) posts though, but some have been rather descriptive and helpful, been thinkiing of doing a "cigar" thread myself
