hey,
ok, i understand this is an 'arcade' game, and things like 'body armour' and 'murpheys law' have to be accounted for, but i still think some of the weapons are underpowered.

the .50cal for example, (m2 mounted guns and th m95) should all be one shot kills, always.

and the power of the 120mm on the abrahms, it should obliterate just about everything, but the splash damage on it is pityful...

another thing, grenades dont hurt MBT's. unless you get it down the hatch.

as final rant, the game is supposed to model 'penetration' right? ( you can shoot through the tin walls of stalls and things) how come i cant shoot through brick walls and trees and fences and buildings etc. the m2, m95, main guns on the tanks, AT weapons, and autocannons should have now trouble at all. even the  7.62mm of the ak's and pkm and other mounted weapons shouldnt have much trouble with these things.

what are your thoughts on this?

take balance into account:

if the HUMVEE's had 1 Shot Kill capability, then they would be the new Blackhawk. its powerful enough as it is. the M-95 IS 1 Shot Kill, you're just not using it right.

if the walls were capable of being penetrated by the tanks, where do the infantry hide? (not to mention the walls would then have to be destroyable)

pitiful splash damage? its big enough as it is, thanks.

grenades do damage, and wil continue to damage tanks/apc's for the entire time this game exists. why? there
bombs, and bombs are made to destroy things. (not to mention I.R.L they would destroy the tracks)

that, and half the game has been nerfed. just my 0.02c

Yea, sounds good. I thought some one on this post would say "how are the game ngines going to cope?" etc etc, but it seems to be me...unless if any one posted before me...

yea, true about the game engine and damage etc, but about the m95. its a 50 cal weapon. wherever that hits you, its gonna take a whole great chunk out. and you will bleed out pretty quick unless your lucky. either way, your gonna be going home for a long time (missing your arm, or leg if your lucky).

a grenade would only get damage on a tank if it was very lucky, but those little offensive grenades used in the game wouldnt touch an abrahms. you also have to remember the shell on this tank is huge. if it was HE (canister would be great, but its not in...) the blast area would be much more considerable than it is now.

I think patch 1.3 is a good example of what happens when they play with their own code too much. Their engine is so delicate, it's a wonder BF2 even exists.

You know what gun is underpowered? the pistol.

I know, it's a pistol... But it REALLY shouldn't take 9 hits to kill someone. 6 is more like it.

If you wanna talk about underpowered weapons in BF2, go play 2142 first and you will never say BF2 weapons are weak again.

thats true with the pistol as well.  although if someone is wearing armor, the pistol would have trouble...

as for 2142, the whole thing is theoretical (mostly) so you cant really say how effective something should, or shouldnt be, so i dont really like to pose arguments in that direction. another thing about bf2 tho...
the APC's autocannon shouldn't take more than one shot to take someone out. there have been times where i'm sure ive hit someone to have them continue running away. correct me if im wrong, but a 30mm (approx. is diff for the btr 90) autocannon would have no problems cutting somebody in half. (through a bunker, if so required).

I suppose you're right... Vests kinda are best at stopping handgun rounds, but still... Putting 9 into a guy is just too much. It's a fricking gun!
