Okay with the PS3 launch less than 10 days away in the US, I'm hearing a lot of "oh PS3 is too expensive, I'll get a 360 instead) because its a set price of $499 (20gb) and $599 (60gb). What they dont know is that the 360 doesnt include HD/DVD, where as PS3 includes Blu-Ray drive and on release, will be the cheapest Blu-Ray player available. (I went into a shop today and saw a samsung Blu-Ray drive it was selling at £999)

Now, I may sound like a Sony fan boy, but I've owned a Xbox, Gamecube and PS2 and for overall gaming experience, I preferred the PS2. It looks like I'll be sticking with Sony again this year. I was planning on getting a 360 but after all the problems I heard with the systems and lack of killer titles (Dead Rising and GOW are the only titles worth buying a 360 for), I opted out of buying one.

As for the Wii, I don't intend on ever owned a console that involves the name "Wii" (Said Wee, which is an English word for Piss) and waving your arms around like someone with special needs.

After doing my own research on the price difference between a 360 and a PS3 (both core systems), I've come to the conclusion that the core PS3 is infact cheaper than a 360 IF. See for yourself

This is why ps3 > 360

PS3 Core Console: $499
360 Core Console: $299

Harddrive:

PS3: 20GB
360: None

Online:

PS3: Free
360: $60

HD player:

PS3: Built in Blu-Ray/Free
360: None - Standard DVD drive. HD/DVD add-on required $200

Final pricing:

PS3: $499
360: $559

The same also applies to the "premium" versions, but with the PS3 you get a 60gb HDD instead of a 20GB. If you are to get a 360 to the standard of a PS3 (HD/DVD/ONLINE PLAY) it's going to cost you $60 extra for a 360

I know most will be sticking to PC, as it's the best choice, but as a console lover I'm doing this for anyone who might be having trouble deciding on what to buy, or anyone misinformed about the prices for the next gen consoles.

(For Wii fans, I didnt bother including this  because I see it as an upgraded Gamecube with a wavey remote, not a next gen console)

Also, I'm very jealous, but still very hyped about the release, despite it not being released till March in my country Lack of mass production of blu-ray diode FTL

I'm not gonna argue this, since my head hurts and this argument will just be a run-around, but here's the lowdown on Blu-Ray: FUCKING USELESS. Fuck Blu-Ray, Fuck HD-DVD. It sucks because they're the only two choices, and there's not gonna be another development for a few years. We're either gonna have to not buy them at all (like me) or bend over like a good consumer market and take it (like the general public). Just my two cents.

Btw, I own a 360, and am considering getting a PS3.

Blu-Ray? Fucking useless? Not when developers start utilizing its massive storage space, since I work close to the industry, I'm hearing a lot of developers preferring PS3 over 360 due to the amount of content they can have on one disk, plus it's a far easier system to develop for.

Anyway, bed time

I dont hate the PS3, but I can name at least 2 reasons why I probably wont buy it. First of all the blu ray disc is completely fucking useless because games arent going to get over 50gb. Second, what the fuck happened to disc trays? Its a cool concept that Sony is going with to make it sleek and cool, but it will eventually jam, just like my car stero. Then youre fucked.

The only system that dares to go standard definition. After the novelty wears off, the system will be utterly useless.

By barley changing the core elements of the older system?

Paying over $400 for a console is rediculous.

As far as the Wii goes, your loss, I'm glad we will have less people like you fucking up our gaming experience by asking for titles like HALO.

Edit: For all you saying the Wii changes nothing from the previous system, what do the other consoles change? Graphics? Is that it? Given a choice between 8-bit Mario and looking at Hi-Def super-realistic versions of Ridge Racer, I'll stick with the plumber.

If you're going on the terms that it's useless cause you don't have a HDTV (i see you edited) well 360 needs HDTV to utilise, as all the games are 720p.

and as for arent going to, Resistance: Fall of man is 36gb and thats a release title. Within 5 years you'll see games filling Blu-Ray discs easily.

I'll be getting a Wii (coz its so cheap I wont notice the cash missing) and a PS3, 360 just doesn't inspire much, if any excitement in me.

I can respect that. But I have to take advantage of the 62" Mitsubishi 1080p HDTV sitting in my living room.

Given the two, I'll take the high-def Ridge Racer.

Ok, that's a different story.

If you can afford it, no one can contend that the PS3 has highly superior graphics and processing ability. Too bad absolutely zero of that translates to how good the gameplay is. I would be a lot less skeptical about the PS3 if I knew of any good titles coming out exclusively for it, but as far as I know the only good ones will be MGS4 and FF12.

My tutor at college (has worked at Worthog and Rockstar) knows someone on the dev team for the game and he managed to get a demo disk type thing which had loads of game play videos on it and stuff and it does look awesome and I'm told it's also great to play.

Make sure you watch the "high res" versions, especially on the donor bike vid

Xbox 360 > PS3

Here's why:

The Xbox 360 has been out for a year and already has an impressive gaming library. The Xbox 360, just today, has set a new standard for next-gen gaming with their release of Gears of War. Additionally, the Xbox 360, just like the Xbox, has the best online gaming plan. It's centralized structure makes it very easy to communicate and play with your friends online. Do not let the PS3's "free online" fool you. The PS2 also had free online gaming, but it suffered from abysmal support. Because it relies on third parties, and not a centralized structure, it will be very difficult to contact and play with your friends. Part of the reason is due to ambiguity concerning which handle the server uses: your PS3 one, or one specific to that game? There was an article released a few days ago about this. Xbox Live, on the other hand, has a huge userbase with countless games and tons of developer support.

Contrary to popular belief, the PS3 does not have "better graphics". If you compare original footage released by Sony to actual gameplay footage recently released, you will notice an extreme drop in quality (take Metal Gear Solid 4, for example). These are the same kinds of promises that Sony made to us with the PS2 and its over-hyped "Emotion Engine" (Toy Story graphics, anyone?). There is nothing developed or currently in development for the PS3 that is graphically superior to Xbox 360's Gears of War. Also, the Cell chip, like the Emotion Engine, is a gimmick. The PS3 is only marginally more powerful than the Xbox 360, but vastly more difficult to develop for. The Cell chip's yields are also surprisingly low. Only 10%-20% of all Cell chips produced are up to standards to use in the PS3. Not to mention Sony is implementing Blu-Ray, which is losing the format war to HD-DVD and will probably fail horribly (remember UMD movies on the PSP?).

And then we have the issue of price. The Xbox 360's core and premium versions are $200 cheaper than Sony's respective offerings. Why more pay for an inferior console with inferior games and a losing format? If money is no object, get an Xbox 360 and a Wii.

If you still have your doubts, watch this:

Couple things, first I have to say that I have never really liked racing games too much. (Loved Mario Kart though, but it's almost not even a racing game anymore.)

How do you come back? I saw alot of wrecked cars there, but with such a realistic game how do you come back into the race?

Also, they emphasize how the racecourse can be changed, but after playing it 3 times everyone knows where to go and how to play the track...

Edit: Like Xbox360 the least Fancy, but agree with all the points listed.  Out of all the consoles, I think that it has the least amount of games exclusively for it. I love that video though.
