Keeping tanks and walkers running is crucial for the team. Supplies go to them unless a squad asks for it, and it makes sense for me to give it to them (they're not asking for supplies to heal themselves when 4\6 people on their squad are medics for example).

Snipers, you can have the EMP strike. I hate that thing. When you actually hit an enemy with it, no one from your team takes the opportunity  to take the tank/walker out.

a GOOD lone sniper can cover more then 1 flag at once, keeping a number of flags secured isnt worth a single supply drop? sad

dont waste supplies on shitty snipers, i check their scores first. lots of kills with few or no deaths = supplies
Honestly, that's a good tip. Checking the scores is a great idea. One thing I noticed about snipers asking for supplies is that they don't use the supplies to replenish claymores/apm if they are at flag areas. Moving near the flag to position a few claymore/apm shouldn't be that difficult right?

Usually I'll check the rank, but I have never seen an officer as sniper, very rare in game, esp with BF2.

Snipers have uses in real war as a morale weapon.  In a video-game they are useless.  It is easy to find cover from a sniper covering a flag.  You might stop noob infantry from capping, but thats it.  Any experienced infantry or armor and they are capping it.  Of course, if a good sniper has a view over a large battle going on, he can be quite usefull in picking off infantry in the chaos, tipping the balance of the battle in his teams favor.  Also calling guys out as he kills others.  But other then that, they can just pick off loners everyonce in awhile, which is rather useless.
That's a good observation, I remember the scene from Saving Pte Ryan where Vin Diesel got shot and the whole squad got pinned down for a great while. In game, they are not feared coz the commander can spot them out.

Snipers in my squad have saved my ass numerous times when other enemies have tried to flank me while capping a flag. Snipers are pretty much the hardest class to play, so thats why maybe most of em dont even get a lot of kills. Overall, Snipers DO contribute to the team, and they DO deserve at least a supply drop by the commander when the commander's supplies recharge.

EDIT: Sure, most high rankers that you have seen do not snipe, but the ones that do are REALLY good...such as 1st, 2nd, or 3rd on the scoreboard..

Make a squad, snipers provide awesome spawn points, when you need supplies, ask one of your squadmembers to drop a bag for you. Problem solved
They make awesome spawn points halfway across the map. Anyone who is going to try and watch the action from afar is not going to make a good spawn point by nature.

Frankly, the commander giving the tank supplies is a much better use of them than having one sniper grab a couple bullets. The tank is going to help out the team a lot more than a sniper.

For me, as a sniper, the places that I post myself for sniping can get very tricky for the commander to drop a supply drop, hence NOT befitting ANYONE. Therefore, most of the time, I do not even bother asking for a supply. If I running out of ammo (I at least keep 2 rounds in the Rifle just in case), its time to rely on those GOOD support players who actually knows how to read the mini-map on the top right hand corner of the screen that I am out of ammo. If that fails, its time to move on to some other location and either get the ammo there, or change to another kit.

Am I the only one who wouldn't want any kind of movement(especially a massive box+parachute+sign saying 'come get and get an easy kill'), within 50 feet of me when sniping?

Heres a great hint though MOVE, you have the awesome ability to become invisible, which is usually enough to move to friendly squad/silo. It's still pretty easy even if you don't have it equipped, you'll usually see enemies before they see you, so duck or hide.

The walkers is by far the most powerful vehicle when driven well, the commander is always going to give it priority, and vice versa a tank is about all that can stand up to an enemy walker(driven well of course, some people just have no idea).

one of the tips i use is, if getting close to having sod all ammo, then go pick up the dead mans kit, when i am a sniper i don't want a huge box falling anywer near me saying HELLLLLLO I AM OVER HERE COME AND DRIVE THAT TANK RIGHT OVER ME, it kind of gives the whole idea of being a sniper away, on some occasions when i have been lucky ive killed a support guy picked up his kit, gone back to my hole, dropped a load of supplies, ran back picked up my kit, and continued.....as storm eye says in his sig "A SIGN OF A GOOD PLAYER(ADAPTATION)

The only, and I mean only, time I would give supplies to a sniper, even if they asked politely, would be if they're hidden in a good spot and would make a good spawn point for a squad, or they're leading a group of snipers. Lone sniper < Infantry < Tanks in regards to supply drops IMO.

Yeah i think people forget about swapping kits if i see someone doing that i have so much respect for the way they play. The snipers in that position that have no ammo, scope someone with a large machine gun out, drop em and take the kit. Also i hate it when your assault and squad ldr and your die and people just look at your corpse and get shot usually why didnt they pick up the kit and revive you it doesn't even occur to them lol its amazing.

Im not sure whether i would drop ammo on a sniper in the middle of now where i would try to get it to help as many people on my team so if their infantry going for a flag and a tank im more likely to drop it there and benfit several players than the one sniper. If the sniper's the only one asking and i see no other need for supplies else where (doesn't happen that often) i would drop it just because you might as well.

Most of you act as if giving a solitary supply crate to a sniper is going to undermine the entire team and cause loads of your own team to die.  If the guy in the tank can't survive until the supply drop recharges then maybe he shouldn't be using the tank and the squad working as a team should pick someone to be a designated support guy.  Unless 2142 is extremely different from bf2 most of the time people don't request supplies anyway so who's going to notice one missing crate?

many snipers also have a habit of either smurfing (not squadding up) or not following orders when they are in a squad, i won't acknowledge requests from either, sniper or otherwise, you're a waste of my time. yes i know you're a fucking sniper, when i say "attack/defend here" i don't expect you to run in, i want you to cover that area with your fucking scope, i also get yelled at when i have the forethought to drop a crate behind cover, you know, so it doesn't give away your position brainiac

Cool idea! I'll just hop in a tank and ask for supplies, then hop out I win!

Godddamn Burger Flippers....Get a freakin clue!  Supply boxes are for players that get the freakin points for the team.  Snipers are not real team players...  They only lie to themselves and brag about their bullshit exploits on the battlefield.  Be a freakin man and go face to face with the enemy.  Toe to toe combat is what this game is about.  Not camped out in your "special hidey hole" taking pot shots at the enemy...(Hell, everyone knows about your hole anyway...just ask your faggot friends)

Oh yeah, almost forgot.  Next time you take my order at McDonalds....get it correct!!!

Exactly.  Get in a squad with a support dude....be a spawn point.....or be a commander and give yourself supplies (but that will only make you more hated).

Sniper is by far the hardest class in the game to play effectively and get mass kills/teamwork scores.  Having sniped a lot during BF2 and now BF2142, the best snipers are typically the most aggressive ones.  You know, the guys that rush in to defend a point, plant claymores all over the place, and shoot the enemy from five meters away into the front of their skull.  Limited ammo is probably the least of their concerns, half the time they'll be dead before they go through even half of it.
Useful snipers won't usually need ammo, by this rationale, so commander drops are kind of a waste unless absolutely no one else needs it  However, if a sniper (a good one) has about ten to fifteen kills by himself and has been defending points/assaultint points left and right, assume that guy needs the ammo real bad, otherwise he wouldn't be asking for it.
