My parents are trying to get rid of the 50 ft red cable that runs through the living room and I just moved my comp into my bedroom which is downstairs, there is a wireless router upstairs.  This sucks because the internet was going so fast with that NIC in my comp and now I have to switch to crappy complicated wireless, which is unreliable for anything computer related in my opinion.  From what i've seen, Battlefield doesn't seem to like wireless, so I had to ask, will it work over a wireless network card?  Also, if I plug my XBox into my mobo's ethernet port, will I be able to get XBox Live through that?  (On a side note: Hooked my comp up to the 27" non hi-def T.V. and it's pretty crazy lookin, lol.)

Is it with a wireless PCI card or a wireless router outside the computer plugged in via ethernet port?

It's a DLink router, don't know exactly which one because I'm at work atm, on my comp I have a wireless USB card, work fine for me.

If your going to use wireless on Windows XP, be sure to disable the Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration Service (Windows inbuilt service for controlling a wireless connection), and use the utility provided by the manufacturer of the wireless card/usb dongle.

When I use WZC I have huge problems with "There is a problem with your connection" messages that make the game pretty much unplayable. However by disabling WZC and letting the manufacturers wireless utility control the connection I have a perfect connection; no lag, no drop outs and no 10 second long "There is a problem with your connection" messages.

So to answer your question: Yes, BF2 over Wireless does work and no different now to when I used to run it over a wired connection.

it works fine.

i've been using wireless for gaming for two years now, and i switched to a wired connection about 4 days ago, very little change in performance.

as for xbox live, i've never been able to get it going, but that could just be me.

What I meant was to plug it into the ethernet port on my mobo, then use the internet through my computer to get XBox Live to my XBox, i'm gonna try that.  Can't wait til I get it set up.
